hi clare we have just bought a barelake 6, had it up in the garden for 3 days to check for leaks as we have had bad wind and rain, it didnt leak 1 drop and the polycotton, its o so nice

Hi,we have had an Outwell Colarado for 3 years.It has not let one drop of rain in,just bought an Outwell sunvalley 6.Bear in mind that Outwell make 1000s of tents each year and like anything else you do get some bad ones.

We have an Outwell Georgia XL... super tent... doesn't leak a drop.

The main issues have been with the one piece Outwell's such as the Nebraska (we sent one back) Monty's and vermont.

There have been threads on here about many brands that leak, Vango, Khyam and so on. Outwell are a very popular brand sell a lot of tents, therefore, based on this is probably get more bad press.

I wouldn't disregard Outwell as other brands have had issues to.

I have the indiana 6 and not a drop of water has got in on its 4 outings this year.

Hi Clare, I agree with Kathryn007. This summer has been extreme. I know because we were camping in Cenarth falls in Wales during the worst of the weather. A lot of other campers packed up and went home due to the continuing rain and the resulting muddy mess. We were lucky, we had a hard standing of gravel so stayed relatively mud free. We were in a Gelert Cadiz 4+2 which leaked in a couple of places although it had not leaked previously. I simply bought a can of waterproofer and sprayed the tent roof during a lone sunny day and it did not leak for the rest of the holiday.

 The only other advice I can give is try and avoid tents where the top of the side door comes too far over the roof overhanging the living area ground sheet if you know what I mean. We did find that we had to mop up quite large puddles every time we opened the door. We have now taken delivery of a Gelert LV 6 but not used it yet.

We have an outwell indiana 8 which we have used for two years, about ten trips in all weathers and has never let us down, not even a drip at the seams and this summer we have 7 days of almost non-stop rain and storms in wales.

Got a Vermont XL and it does not leak a drop - I know there have been some (more the Nebraskas) that have had issues but please don't let some horror stories put you off a fantastic tent.

If you think of the huge number of tents the well known brands sell compared to the number of faulty ones it must be a very low percentage.  We have a 2005 Montana 6 and it has withstood terrible storms in France in 2005 and 2006 and not a drop of water came in nor a pole or peg shifted.  I prefer it to my caravan, wish OH would come round to my way of thinking!
