Hi everyone

Well our Vango Kirkwood 900 is fainally going back to Vango and we will hopefully get a full refund.  (Mark from OutdoorAction has been brilliant - thats what I call customer service!)

Anyway, we have recommended to look at the Outwell range and have looked at both the Indiana 8 and the Nebraska XL.  The one thing I liked alot about the Vango was the large porch area as we kept the kitchen gear, shoes etc in there and it kept the main living space clear.  This is why I like the Nebraska but (apart from the price) are there any other pros or cons between the two?

Any comments about OUtwell would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi harasiwel

When I was buying my tent recently. I had a look at the Outwell range, they definitely have a good selection of tents.
The main thing that put me off, was the number of posts I read on here regarding leaking Outwell tents. They do seem to have had a few problems this year.
Other than that, they seem a good proposition but I opted not to get one because of the above.

The indi 8 has not been reported as leaking, but i believe is not in the Outwell line up next year. We put the cooking stuff under the canopy at the front or have a side canopy to put it under. It is a good size but not so huge that you have trouble fitting on a pitch, has loads of windows and has stood up to all weathers. It is a btahtub not a sig groundsheet, but we have no problem with this as it gives you more options in hot weather ( if we ever get any!)

There is a couple of pics in my gallery.

hi harasiwel

so i see your vango kirkwood 900 leaked also our killington 600 did aswell, ours also is going back to allweathers but cant decide wether to get a refund or replace it with the new 2008 version, really liked the layout of the tent especially the porch really handy, so i have to make my mind up, allweathers like your supplier have been great.

The Outwell Georgia XL is of a similar type to the Vango, but it's more like the Vango Diablo 900, in that it pitches inner first.

We were gonna go for the Killington, but when seeing that and the Georgia XL together at a tent show, there was no comparison - for us.

Regarding the Outwell Nebraska XL, it has had many problems with leaks, we returned one that leaked on every seam. If you do a search of the posts on here, you will see many about leaking Nebraska's. It is a great tent if you get a good one.

Have a look at the Georgia, it is a super tent.

Take a look at the Vermont L, nice big size, enclosed porch, lots of windows and the front can open up like a canopy.

Our Vango Breckenridge 400 went back (the first canvas leaked in 6 places, the second had holes in....).  We've replaced it with a Robens Eveningstar XL.  Cost  a bit more but appears to be considerably better designed and much lighter (alloy poles).  Only had it up in the garden so far but looks the biz.

Thaks everyone for the responses - looks like we will try the Indiana 8.  WE thought about getting the extra porch but may go for a Day Tent instead as it is only £10 more and much more versatile.
