well were do you start .purchased the biscaya 440 with side kithen in june isues with the side kitchen bad desighn went back to cabanon for inspection .did not want another .so we decided on the 500 as we love the biscaya range . recieved it .went in it 2 weeks after recieving it to eskdale in the lakes september .all exited errected the tent only to find 2 small holes in one off the roof panels at opposit sides. gutted to say the least . made a phone call staight away to the dealer not ther fault they did not make the tent.one hole was like a cigeret burn it was not but just trying to descibe it small hole with a brown ring around it the other was like a very small split well yes it rained in . the dealer said soon as you get back off hols we will have it collected for repair . something about they way it may off come off the rollers when made . was not happy about repair as it was not our doing .i thought it should off been replaced with new .apparantly not they have to  it repair to look like new . so off it went to cabanon .to be inspected . so all family holiday plans were lost as our babados only big enough for 2 of us and dog. any gone again for weeks numerous phone calls chasing it .it finally came back with new roof pannel fitted . thought we better open it to look and there was a terrible colour difference in the new panel to the old one .gutted a again phoned dealer off it went again not there fault they did not do the job . was inspected by the dealer they then phone us and said yes there is a vast colour difference did we want a new one at this point we just wanted our money back lost faith. not meant to have a biscaya i am sure . but for any one who as one thats ok . it is a lovely spacous tent. i do still love cabanon just think we have been very unlucky .

Oh Denise what a shame. I bet you are so disappointed.  The 440 is the tent I have my eye on for next year but I'm waiting to see if they make any changes to the design because of the problems a few people have had with the kitchen.

I hope you find something else you love just as much!

Jo

yes i was the first one on here to have the prob with kitchen on 440.its a lovely range but a lot off money . and also some people having problems with the poles . but dont let it put you off if its what you want . i would  have a second hand one my self if one come up not with kitchen 500 or 370 we could not see the benafit on the 440 when we had it .we dont cook in tent we just ended up sticking table and chairs there . second hand would be better not as much money to loose if things did go wrong at later date out off warrenty period .

I posted details, earlier this year, of the two pin prick holes in the canvas of our Biscaya vis a vis, luckily one is on a seam and one is on the sun canopy, and not actually on the main tent canvas. Anyway, complained in July to the supplier who said they would collect it for inspection, but thought it was probably 'pilot holes' for positioning of windows and canopy straps. They said we could use it for the summer and then they would collect.

To cut a long story short, we told the supplier they could collect it straight away, as we were taking our Cabanon Espace to France for a long trip in the summer, but they didn't arrange collection. We said we would be prepared just to have a guarantee from Cabanon, just so that if things do ever go wrong with these two pilot holes things are covered under warranty, but Cabanon were not prepared to do that without seeing it first.

They have told us they will have to replace the panels, if they confirm the tent is faulty, but I wouldn't accept a repair on a tent of this cost which was supplied with faults. This isn't something which has occurred with use, after all, but something which was there when it left the factory.

This is our second Biscaya, our first had a faulty groundsheet zip, a window toggle came off the first time we used it and there was a tiny flaw in the canvas. That was from a different supplier, though, who said he would repair or refund but not replace, so we went for the refund. What is happening to Cabanon quality control with Biscayas?

Summer is over and we still have the Biscaya vis a vis, which has only been used once to date. We should really be chasing the supplier, I know, but have too many things going on at home at the mo to be worrying about tents, and they did say they would contact us, after all.

We really like the tent, so will maybe just have to keep our fingers crossed that the holes are never problematic........

Hi Denise. Sorry to hear about your problems. Luckily I've never had any problems like this. Looking at the forums there seems to be a fair few people who have problems with new tents (missing poles etc) I think tents are so popular these days - and with anything production is done quickly. Hope you've got everything sorted.

Have fun

Cheers, Dan

Hi Denise,

Up to my neck in work, and we have a new pooch who needs lots of attention - looking forward to taking her camping in the spring - hence not much time for posting right now I'm afraid!

I totally agree with you; Cabanon produce excellent frame tents, and we also love the pyramids (have the Guadeloupe, as you may remember, and are hankering over a Barbados), but the Biscaya - as the flagship/flagtent - should live up to the same standard of quality.

I'm glad you got your refund okay, by the way.
