I'm not sure whether this is the best time of year to buy a new tent, but I'm thinking of asking Santa for a new tent for Christmas! I hope you lovely people on here can help me with some suggestions!

I am looking for a 2-3 person weekend tent which can be put up quite easily on my own, has a porch which is big enough to sit in if the weather is rough and is standing height (I'm 5 ft 5). Budget is around £100.

Thanks :D

Don't even consider the Outwell Arizona's they require two to put up(and at 6'4, I had problems), my OH made that mistake earlier this year.  She ended up with a Vango Oregon 4, but any tunnel design will be good, the vango has a sewn in groundsheet so you will need to cut a piece of tarp to protect it.  The Outwell Oregan 5 is similar but has a larger living area and seperate groundsheet.

You only other course of action would be to purchase a Khyam QE tent, but out of your budget I am afraid.

My OH is about the same size as you and has been only holiday by herself with the two kids and a dog.  They managed it between them.

We also considered the Coleman Lakeside, but dismissed it because it had no Mud/Storm flaps.  These are desirable to keep the elements outside, specifically rain and draughts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I love the look of the Sunncamp Evolution 400. Does anyone here have one...how easy is it for one person to pitch? It looks fairly simple as not many poles.

Otherwise it will probably be the Vango Oregon 400 as it looks like a bigger version of the weekend tent I have now (Lichfield Cherokee).

Outdoor focus has the Coleman Lakeside 4 for £49.95.  We bought one recently and it looks fairly straightforward to put up.  Plenty of headroom but it doesn't have a SIG.

We have the Evolution 400, got it a couple of months ago for a weekend tent for hubby n me. Only camped in it once so far but was quick and easy to put up. Spread tent out, thread the three poles through, then push the poles and it practically puts itself up.

Plenty of room for 2 people, or 2 and a little one, but not 4.

Forgot to say that a SIG in the bedroom area is a must, so that one doesn't sound like the one for me!

Thanks - sounds ideal. Its only for 1-2 people - as long as can fit a double airbed in the bedroom pod.

I think you'll find that all tents have fully enclosed bedrooms. When people refer to a SIG, they mean a fully enclosed SIG throughout the entire tent, living areas and under the additional SIG in the bedroom areas.

Hope that clears it up a bit!

I actually like the Quechua (Decathlon) T4.1 (here, at £69), we have the T4.2 and it is an absolute doddle to pitch, well ventilated (because of the lined flysheet, which also reduces condensation) and good value.

I know the HH isn't as high as some others, but we have used ours in torrential rain without problem - no leaks and no condensation either. I like the colour too; not too light and not too dark.

The bedroom space on the 4.1 is great for 2 people plus luggage, with good headroom,  and the living area is generous too. I like the fact that there is a side door, to give a bit more privacy, but that it can be propped up to form a canopy (poles provided).

Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Thanks Liddenham - I like the look of the Quechua too. So its between the Sunncamp Evolution 400, Vango Oregon 400 and the Quechua. Decisions decisions!
