Any of you Karsten tenters find it tricky getting the last of the air out of your tent? No rocket science here, I simply reversed the valve in an old bike pump so that it sucks the air out. You will also need to remove the ball bearing from the little hose thing that connects the valve to the pump. It works on a bike inner-tube so I guess it'll work on the tent too.

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I've got to be careful how I phrase this. My electric pump for inflating the tent doesn't suck. Deflating is easy, most of the air comes out once the valve is taken out. But there is always a little left. The bike pump just sucks the last of the air out of the tubes so it's easier for Jeeves to pack up.
You guys bang on about the price of Karsten's but I only intend to buy one. Saw some folks in France last year who had used theirs every year for 15 years, and it still seemed in good nick. Cheaper tents don't last as long and they tend to get broken by our summer weather.
And yes the Priory is one of the best pubs round my way, they keep proper beer properly. How do you know it Martin, Darts?
hi sory to hi jack thread, but have looked at the Kasten tents and they alook great, can you give me an idea about how you have found it _ and what sort you have?
My second qustion os a long shot. You don't know anoy one in UK who sells second hand, or a dutch site that will post to UK. The Karsten site won't send to England _ as they want you to see them first. thansks

We did the same for the same reasons but opted for a De Waard instead purely because we liked the shape.
The Priory was like my front room for nearly 12 years until we opted to move out to the country 7 years ago. Best pub in London if not the whole country for its beers (or used to be...it's been a while). I never played a game of darts the whole time. I was one of the barflys.

Try www.marktplaats.nl , search (zoek) "Karsten", find one you like - there's currently around 42 priced for sale (the rest are asking for bids) ranging in price from around 500 - 2999 euros - and e-mail the seller and ask if they'd be prepared to send it to England - what have you got to lose ? They can only say no. This is how I got my De Waard though I did end up going to holland to pick it up as it was quicker and cheaper for me to do it that way.
many thanks - haven't found anyone willing to send to uK. did you look into postage - was it very expensive? the de waard tents also look great. i wonder why they don't sell in the uk.
Mention of Karsten tents always reminds me of The Igloo which we had when I was young, as the most junior member of the family it was my job to roll on it to get all the air out.
