I currently have a small but very strong tent which is great especially in exposed sites/high winds. I am now looking for a larger tent with a central area that is high enough to stand up in and has plenty of space for cooking stuff, sitting in etc, and one large bedroom area (say that would sleep up to 4), but especially needs to be strong so will also stand up to high winds/bad weather. There's nowhere near me where I can view different tents so any suggestions/personal recommendations would be great!

Hi Ellejay & welcome to the forum Be warned, this forum is very addictive
The best full height tent you could buy to stand up to strong winds and storms is a canvas frame tent - ours have proved that. You can also cook inside a canvas tent if the weather is yukkie outside. However, they do take up more space in the car, so it depends on whether you can transport it with all the other equipment you want to take.
I'd also recommend a frame tent for stormy weather. They are usually around 7' high at the centre and most (but not all) have a designated cooking area.
We are frame tent "converts" as well - got our Sunncamp "Gite" off e-bay for £40 and have been well impressed with it so far. It feels so much more substantial than our previous polyester tunnel tent.
You could have a look on here for some idea, bearing in mind that cotton canvas frame tents can, if properly looked after, last for twenty years or more, so it's maybe worth looking for a used bargain if you don't want to fork out for a new one.
Best of luck, whatever you decide!
