We bought a cheap 3/4 man tent last year at Asda just for a night or two away to use instead of our regular tent. It is brilliant because you just insert the 4 extendable poles in the sheaths and the tent is up (10 minutes)
My question
Is there a similarly constructed tent that may include a small awning that you can put up in 10 minutes.

Could you buy any awning to put up right next to the tent that you have?

Just a suggestion...

Thinking out loud here ,   I use a small 4ft high dome for myself and boy when we go on one of our weekend adventures nice weather only.  As I don't drive everything has to be carried on public transport.  While doing a search yesterday  saw this and thought at 4.5 kilos it would give me a shaded outside sitting and cooking area what do you all think

Not sure what you mean, obviously you still have to peg and guy surely? That being the case, is it a tunnel tent you're looking for? Take a look at my gallery, the bottom pic is a Coleman Columbus 4, 3 poles straight through the sleeves and that is basically it apart from pegging and guying. Full head height, SIG etc 2x2 bedrooms. Mine is polycotton which we love. Lots of tunnels on the market, depending on your budget.

Guess I'm looking more for a dome, just bigger than the tiddler I've got but one that I can put up in a jiffy

Tried a  tunnel and a ring and pin tent but as I am only 4ft 10 and on my own the thread through and ring and pin were just not working for me .   I thought that I could handle a windbreak no problem.
