Hi all
Just registered on this site and would like a bit of advice or your recomendations.
I am looking to but a new 6 berth tent and have a budget of up to £350. It has to be fairly robust as we like to camp as much as poss and want it to last a while. We also have a couple boys who get very excited about being in the tent, so again need it to be robust enough to cope with their jumping about!!!!
I am considering the Coleman Galileo XL and wondered if any one had they could let me know of their views on it.
Or if there is any others you could recomend?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice and well done for what likes a nice web site.

The most popular 6 berth tent on here is probably the Outwell Montana 6. The best thing to do is find the tents you like ie the coleman and use the search thread to see if its come up before.
We found our first tent to be good for the five of us to start ( gelert quebec 8+4 c£150) it easy to put up and has a sewn in groundsheet. It withstood the appalling weahter last year as well. Will be likely to used again for weekends.
With the 3 kids we then decided to upgrade to the Royal Nevada 10. It basically the same layout as the Outwell montana 12 but a tad cheaper. It more tricky to put up but it has steel poles so is sturdy and huge. Its rectanglar rather than the 3pod dome shapes so more space efficient if you come across sites not liking really large tents.
We tend to look for sites with entertainment and these are likely to have smaller pitch sizes.
The Royal Pescara 8 has a larger footprint but good for the large porch area that some will cook under and got some good reviews.

I liked the look of the Coleman Galileo when I researched it online. Still have and use the Coleman Weathermaster which is a brilliant bombroof tent of immense wonderfulness.
When selecting our larger upgrade however, I made an error and chose the Vango Vail 700 instead of the Galileo as I had seen the Vail at a local dealer.
Wish I'd just ordered the Coleman as had leaking problems with the Vango which are still being "assessed" by the manufacturer. Probably unlucky and got a bad tent though.
Would thoroughly recommend Coleman tents and definitely fancy the Galileo.
Good luck

Hi Mick & welcome to the forum
If you have enough space in the car to fit in a canvas frame tent, then that's the way to go - very robust & they last 20-30 years. There's loads of space with full head height throughout. If you're stuck in the tent for a few hours due to bad weather, there's plenty of space for the kids to play, plus you can cook inside a canvas tent (not advisable in a synthetic tent).
On a budget of £350 you can afford to buy a good second hand frame tent.
Totally agree with you about the canvas frame tent i had one years ago when my kids were young and it was brill.
Think this may be our option next year to purchse one again.
JK see your fro Cov my home town LOL
