We looked at this tent today at Mid west camping and thought the quality was really good, it was a 4 berth but they also do a 6 berth one too.
It is made of a cotton mixture which is simular to the canvas frame tents but a bit lighter, as Colin is not too keen on the Nylon type tents it was a very good alternative and it was really spacious inside even for a 6ft man.
Also the zip in ground sheet system in the living area looked a really good idea.
Does anyone have any feedback on this particular tent please?

We have the Norfolk Lake and love it. The tent stays cooler in warmer weather and is rock solid in bad weather. We have tested it out in really bad weather, strong winds, hailstones! The material is great, I don't like the nylon tents I feel as if I am in a parachute!
just brought a bearlake4 but not put it up yet,as weather been bad.but like yourselves didnt fancy a nylon one. i am just hopeing it as good as the write ups
------------- enjoy the present, because its a gift.thats why its called the present
We got our Bear Lake 6 at the weekend, but won't be able to comment on it until we have used it for the first time at Easter.
We have looked at several manufacturers/models over the last few months and eventually decided the Bear Lake is for us.
The size and layout seem ideal for us, but the thing that ruled out a lot of similar tents was that so many now have a SIG. We often camp for several days and like to lift the groundsheet to look after the grass as best we can. The ZIG on the Bear Lake gives us the best of both worlds. We will also buy a carpet, mainly to protect the groundsheet. We managed to rip the one on our old tent twice last year.
We also liked the idea of polycotton for it's warmer in cold weather, cooler in warm weather properties.
The only negative comments we could find were some issues with leakage near some of the zips, but as far as we can gather this was an issue with the 2006 model that was sorted out for the 2007 model.
As far we are aware there is little if any difference between the 2007 and 2008 models, so if you want to save some money it might be worth trying to get an end of range model. The cheapest 2008 we could find was £599, whereas we have picked up a 2007 model for £463 from outdooraction.com

We have a Bear Lake 6. It's a great tent - although the canvas and ZIG is very heavy, but suprising easy to put up and down compared to our previous Nebraska XL.
There have been some issues with the zip on the front door being tight and some debate as to whether you need to weather the canvas. Ours has a tightish zip but nothing too unmanageable and I cannot vouch for the waterproofing as I did not weather ours - but it did not rain.
Overall the BL6 is in a different league to Nylon tents. It remains a lot cooler during the day and seems to retain heat better at night. We have had no condensation problems at all and I tend to run an electric fire.
I plan to weather mine this year but I also have a can of FABSIL I take with me just in case.
Overall BL6 is the best tent we have owned.

We have a norfolk lake and we haven't weathered ours. We were told that it does not need it since it is polycotton and already treated. We gave it a really good test last summer, it even had hail stones on it at one point. Not one leak in sight!
Finally got to see a Bear Lake 6 erected at the NEC show this week and we were not disappointed. Have now ordered the footprint groundsheet and carpet to fit.
The guy from Yeomans was really helpful, even though we said we had not purchased the tent from them. He told us the best way to erect and he did say to weather it first if we get chance to. Erect it and get the hosepipe on it. Then to spray with fabsil approx once for every 6 weeks use to keep weathered.
Roll on Easter !!!
