Anyone had any experience with Soulpad tents, we're looking for a new tent and are torn between the new sprayway valley 8 polycotton or the soulpad 5000 tribe. completely different tents I know but none the less both pretty cool in their own right, and the pro's and con's of each balance up...... for us anyway!!!

Also anyone know where we can have a look at the sprayway in the southeast?

As far as I'm aware the sole supplier in the UK (so far) of Sprayway tents is Outdoor World in Warrington.  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/cat.asp?catid=3

Thanks guys, here's a link to soulpad www.soulpad.co.uk they are a new company so I don't know much about them it seems cheap for a canvas tent of this size any thoughts anyone?

Also any thoughts on sprayway they seem very good build and spec, and does anyone know if they are showing at the NEC in Feb?

Sprayway aren't listed as an Exhibitor. Best to contact Outdoor World and ask them if they've got a stand or any other questions on the Sprayway.

I've seen the Sprayways and am very impressed.

Thought I’d resurrect this thread as I’m seriously interested in the Soulpad 5000 but  as they’re internet based unable to view these anywhere. Therefore any reviews, photos or comments greatly appreciated!

Btw I have contacted Soulpad who were most helpful however I’m after a more impartial opinion!

The thing that put me off about them was the size - don't they require an inordinarily large footprint? I.E Too big for festivals?!

A much as I like bell tents I think they're a bit impractical because there is no outdoor protection (porch/awning in other words) for cooking and sitting out in the rain on those warm wet english summer nights. You could get a tarp to go with it - and there are some nice big cotton canvas ones that would perfectly match the tent, but thats an extra bit of kit.  For anyone that likes a retro looking (pre 20th century!) canvas tent I'd say go for a decent pyramid.

Thanks for the info caster –

Martin, the Soulpad in the rain was also one of my concerns especially getting in and out without letting in water.  Unsure if the roof vent could be partially opened in the rain without leakage allowing cooking inside.

What woud you consider to be a 'decent pyramid'?

De Waard, Randstad and Cabanon in that order but I'm biased (see my gallery shot), however the first two are prohibitively expensive new and virtually impossible to get hold of in this country but can be picked up pretty cheap second-hand in Holland. The Cabanon Guadeloupe is a good tent for a good price easily available in this country - but if anything ever happened to our De Waard I'd be straight over to Holland again to get another second-hand one rather than buy a new Cabanon - just personal taste.

Thanks Martin, you’ve just opened up a whole new world of canvas expenditure for me!! the pyramid style tents look very nice and also practical. I’ve looked on the “those Dutch tents” topic and may be tempted down that route. I need a tent for 2 adults + 3 children 14,10,10 yrs but not too massive for just me and the wife. for longer breaks 2 of the kids could go in a hike tent if necessary - I need to do a rethink!

Good luck - I became obsessed with getting a De Waard last year after seeing lots on French campsites. Best research tools are the De Waard forum , De Waards own website , and Marktplaats for looking at lots of photos and checking out second-hand prices - enter De Waard in the "wat zoekt u ?" click Zoek then click on "tenten" .  There's a 14 yr old Albatros with varioluifel on there at the moment for 500 euros - brand new it would cost over £2000 - should last at least another 15 years if looked after.

cheers

martin
