Hi ,

I am strugling to decide which tent to get - mainly for weekends away with my 2 boys & 2 labradors and sometimes with my partner . I really like the Diablo but am a bit concerned that people say it is hard to put up . Am I likely to beable to put it up with just 2 boys helping ( 8 & 5 )  or would I be best getting something like the albany that looks easier .

Any help much appreciated - particuarly from Diablo owners !!

Thanks

Joan

I am not a diablo owner but have good friend that just gave his away to good home because of how long it took to put up.

there are so many tents on the market that make life simple most of the tunnel tents are so much easier to erect.

I think you'd find that tricky to pitch. "Ring and pin" is difficult with someone to hang onto it on the other side and domes really need someone inside them to hold the poles up when you are pitching.

Have you thought about how you plan to sleep? The Diablo has two small'ish separate pods and I just wonder if you wouldn't all be happier in together if it's just you and your boys?

I'm not familiar with current models of tunnels but have you thought about one that has a big bedroom at one end that you can split with a curtain so you can be altogether but that you can separate if you want to?

hi joan i had a diablo 900xp before upgrading to a stratos and i loved it it can be a bit of a struggle to lift the center high enough to get the 3 main poles on the pins but once that is done the bedroom poles are easy,we find the fly sheet goes on easier  pulling from the front to back and putting the porch poles in after the flysheet is on not before as in the instructions ,if you go onto the vango site  www.vango.co.uk you can select the tents you are interested in  and read the pitching instructions. the diablo is a very stable tent and stood up to 28 days of camping in the worst of what last summer could throw at it.the diablo pitches inner 1st so if it is raining you need to get the flysheet on pretty quick but has the benefit of a sewn in groundsheet so no draughts and leeks  if you do choose the diablo i would recomend you get the large porch extention it gives that extra bit of shelter to the door in bad weather and is great to cook under aswell as for storage.

hope this helps

Hi , Thanks for advice . After reading this and some more postings about Diablos decided they arent really weekend tents for single mums !!  - however good they obviously are .

As such I have opted for the Albany 600 . Its a new Vango tunnel tent which Outdoor Action have the samples for at £139.99 .I have the option of having one of the bedrooms out to give me a bit more space inside & if I want the children sleeping with me. Its just missing the porch but I will have to get a canopy at some point ( The 2008 models seem to fit more vango tents than they used to ) .

Placed my order so now cant wait to try it out . !!

Thanks again

Joan
