Hi Mark2979, Thanks for the feedback regarding the Nevada M and Minnesota 4, I was thinking of something sturdier than the Nevada and possibly the Minnesota, but on my web searches and reading reviews i came across this - The Sprayway valley 4, it has got good reviews and seems sturdy, and in my opinion is better styled than the Outdoor revolution scenic with some nice touches, Has anybody got any feedback on this one

visited Caseys at chester yesterday, they had both the Minn 4 and Nevada M pitched. The Nevada is quite a bit bigger, mainly the living area due to its width. Both looked well made though.
Im a bit concerned at comments re use of Nevada M for short stay only. Is this simply because you like the convenience of a quick erect tent or are there concerns about the Nevadas ability to do the longer holiday stint. Im thinking of buying one for use for main and shorter hols so all views welcome.

Many who go for long camps (a week or more) will take tents that "officially" sleep far many more than will actually use it. This allows for more room to store more stuff as well as giving the feeling of more space so as not to feel claustrophobic. However, these large tents are more difficult and time consuming to erect.
These same campers, when just going away for a weekend, will take a smaller tent because it is easier and quicker to erect, they will not have as much stuff to store and ebcause they won't be there long enough to begin to feel claustrophobic.
You are right about the space in the Nevada M; I was struck by it also. However, the Minnesota has those steel poles and will, therefore, be sturdier in strong winds.

hi just read another thread and someone took the nevada away at the weekend and said they had strong winds and it stood up fine. we have the sun valley 8 dont know whether it has same poles but we withstood 40 mile an hour winds last summer!now that was an interesting trip!!! im thinking of buying this tent for short stay did also like the minnesota but its alot heavier than the nevada and just wanted something light quick and easy.(?!*)
There are just the two of us so we are looking for an 'all in one' option - something which gives plenty of room and is quick to erect, but will be used for weekends and longer hols.
If the Nevada is ok in strong winds, and the issues of a larger tent is more to do with convenience than anything else, then that gets me a bit nearer making my decision.

Just erected our new Nevada M. We bought it at the NEC (along with a new Vermont XL) to use for short weekends or OH and son to go fishing, etc together.
We're really pleased with it. It took about 15 mins to erect and about 10 mins to take down and pack away - brilliant!!! The rain porch is a good idea and will prove very handy. I think we'll probably buy some porch poles for the other side as well.
Having had bad experiences with Outwell seams in the past the seams of this new model seem (sorry the pun) to be stronger and better put together than those of last year's SV8 and Vermont. The tent has plenty of room for the four of us - I'll just have to do without all my cupboards and paraphernalia that we take on longer trips!
Now we're looking forward to trying it out - we just need to wait for a free weekend and then off we go!

Hi, also hope to see the Nevada M soon as it looks ideal for me, the only thing that might have bothered me was no extension/porch available.
Now you have talked about rain porch and extra poles? I thought that option was only on the likes of trout lake etc (i.e. more money), or have I been looking at last years specs/pictures on websites? Confused again now :)
When I say rain porch I mean a little sort of canopy over the side entrance on the right hand side of the tent. It will allow you to open the door and stay dry if it was raining. We need the extra poles so that we can support the side door to use as a larger entrance canopy. We have a Coleman Canopy that will fit across the tent to form a sort of side extension if we need extra shade.
I think I see what you mean now, I was thinking the tent was identical on both sides, not having seen it. With rain cover over one side and roll up flap on the other plus front entrance it makes sense.
I must get out and see it in the flesh this week. thanks
