have been trying to find a smallish tent that would be suitable to carry either in my rucksack, or on the back of my pushbike ie small in packed size and weight, but without breaking the bank.  the one that has taken my fancy so far, is the Khyam Pocket Tent

307

but nearly everywhere i have found it, it is out of stock, plus i cant find a mention of it on Khyam's own webpage!

at the moment, just considering doing a little backpacking either on foot or by bicycle so it would only need to accomodate myself and a bag or two for a couple of nights over a weekend so if anyone knows of a better option, i would be happy to hear it.

as it would probably only get two or three weekend uses per year, i dont really want to spend an awful lot but neither do i want something that is not up to the job.

any advice greatfully received.

the easy answer is as little as possible   would be nice to spend around £50 or less as it's not going to be used every week, but for the right tent i wouldn't rule out £100

Have you tried these for stock?:-

Looks good for the price.  Not particulaly light though at 1.8kg without poles.

thanks for that rozinante, i quite like the look of the 'Duo' on that first link, would be a bit more room inside - but then the postage seems a bit steep.

will keep looking, maybe this years supplies are not out yet, hence them not being on Khyams website at the moment

seen this tent before on a site and what i can remember it needs to be clipped on the side of a van or car as it doesnt have any poles to supporting it or you could use nearby trees. this seams to be a good one man tent

150

COLEMAN AVIOR X1 about £70

I don't know if you are near a Decathlon store, but what about this?

Or this?

But cheaper here, and possibly even cheaper still on Amazon.

Best of luck, whatever you decide!

I do like the look of that last one Liddenham, and you are right, slightly less expensive at Amazon - would never have thought to look there!

ok so now i am torn between the Coleman Rigel x2 127

and the Colman Avior x2, which has the added bonus of a porch

 156

both are around the £50 mark on Amazon, so i guess it now comes down to a) pack size and weight b) ease of pitching/packing and c) the comfort factor.

good job i dont need one today
