As I am trying to convince my Oh that we really, really NEED the front extension for our Monty, I was wondering if any of you lucky people that already have it could post some photos (if you have any) of your Monty set up.  I need him to see for himself just what we're missing!!  Thanks

Lesley

I dont have any pictures but we have the extension and its fantastic. All 4 of us can sit/eat/cook etc without getting the inside and the carpet covered in food/wine etc! We used to have a day tent and now have no need of it. It does make the tent even bigger mind you so we have sometimes been charged more than the rate without it.

Good luck Niki

I'm pretty sure we will get one this year. The sloping front on the Monty is a bit of a pain in pouring rain and we need somewhere to cook as well.

Here is a couple of pics, the extension is invaluable a great cooking, sitting and keeping dry area. I don't leave home without it and it is easy to erect.

Put it away - you're making me jealous!!

On a slightly more serious note our Monty was swopped out last year for a new one as it leaked. I was keen on giving up and getting a Norfolk Lake.

However we already had the footprint. Just before we sent it away to get checked by Outwell my wife ordered a half-price carpet. So if I also buy an extension there is no chance of getting a new tent. At the moment I make vaguely reassuring noises and do nothing every time it is mentioned.

I've never even seen a Norfolk Lake, or any of the Outwell polycottons in the flesh and really want to before committing any money. So it looks as though we will have this season at least in the Monty.

I so far havnt felt the need for a ground sheet as the area has always stayed dry, even when the rain was teaming down.

Thanks for those photos irn bru, hopefully they'll do the trick lol. I think the extension would be great.

We are lucky enough to have the front extension and I can honestly say it is a must - we cook under here and we can keep our table and chairs out of the tent - giving us more living space - go on treat yourself.

My OH wanted one but there is only 2 of us so we just use the windbreak for cooking as there is plenty of living space. If there were more of us thou it would be a must.

It will be too big for your Monty 4 but there are some universal ones out there that should do the trick.

The Monty 4 is not as wide as the 6 and that is where you will have your problems heightwise it would not be much trouble due to the way it fastens to the tent.

Hope that helps

I was thinking of getting one of these instead of a utility tent, mainly for cooking in. Whats the chance of being charged extra for the extension ? I've held off from a utility tent for this reason. I was thinking we could compress it when the bloke came to charge us for the tent, then extend it again when it was time to cook....
(Am I bad?)

 Hi happyhiker ,

We were lucky enough to get one of the montana 6 extensions at the beginning of last year , so are well into our second season with ours and we have never been charged extra for using the extension .
