I have been reading these forums looking for snippets about the vermont m.  I'm about to consider buying 1 but I am alittle confused.  Some sites are offering the tent for £299 others £399.  Some have mentioned the more expensive being the 2008 model.  I have read and been told there is no difference whatsoever between the 2007 and 2008 version, if so why so big a price difference?

Also alot of comments say that this or its larger version has leaked in rain.  Can anyone give me advice, should I fork out for this tent or give it a wide berth. £299 seems like a bargain but I cant afford to make a mistake on a leaky tent, I'm hoping it will last our family for years to come.

Hi isedarken.There were problems with last years outwells namely the nebraska's.The only thing that made a difference as being 'new' was a cr*p thermometer and something i cant remember.Where have you seen these Vermont for £299? pehaps we can help with your decision.For the record i bought two Outwells last year two good ones at that

It was on their site, thats how I found it, perhaps they have removed it? they said there was only a few left...

I have seen several reports of leaking and also several saying it has held up well in torrential rain, my old tent has survived 5 years without leaking at all and was a basic 4 man gelert from halfords in a  deal with other equipment for about £70, its just too small now. even that 1 gave up and leaked when we were in the new forest last year after that terrible rain for a week that caused all the floods.  I'm proud of it to survive as long as it did under those conditions.  I hope this will be the same.

I'm counting on the rule that outwell sell alot of these tents compared to the general market which means the returns will be small in comparison, also more people write negative comments on tents than positive who feel no need so hopefully theres many out there without a problem.

Millits have told me they have a 90 day exchange policy should there be a problem, so when i get it next week I shall give it a good soaking to test it, as well as use it a couple times on weekends. Any problems i'll let you know.
