This tent has got to be the best family tent I have ever used.

it is fly pitch first, and then hang the inner tents within.

I cannot buy a new 9 - 16 berth tent which pitches outer first

does anyone know better

My family just recently sold theirs to upgrade. They used it happily for many years and in lots of weather.

I think you'll be fine with this tent. The only downside is they are huge and that may or may not lead to problems when pitching on some sites.

The Vango Colorados pitch outer first. The Colorado 1200dlx (now discontinued) was very very similar in design  to the Festiva but of a somewhat better build quality and higher HH. I know...I have one and recall comparing it to the Festiva at the time I bought it. It's a superb tent for us die-hard outer first/loose groundsheet  types.

Might be worth looking around on Ebay for a new one from old stock being cleared off. It fits the all the current Vango dome canopies too.

Edit: Had a look on Ebay, and here you go.

The Khyam Michigan is a 12 berth tent, which pitches outer first. And just £199 here.

A tunnel tent will be easier to pitch, and should fit onto most pitches, too.

Hey, that Khyam Michigan looks a brilliant bargain for anyone wanting a big family tent. More pictures here, you have to click on the previous/next buttons to see them all http://www.campingworld.co.uk/Models.aspx?ModelID=15  Nice touch to get a porch on a tunnel tent. MT
