Whilst on an initial 'long weekender tent' scouting mission I saw it up yesterday at Chester Go Outdoors and (much to my suprise) really liked it. Looking at the picture I thought all the slanty space ship-esque walls would make it really pokey inside. Not at all, felt really spacious and airy (and much warmer than the other tents....is this because its a double skin?).
Huge bedroom area that can be divided in half so in essence there are 3 rooms. I'm fairly sure the 4 of us could sleep in one half of the bedroom area and use the other side for dumping stuff.
Was very suprised to find out the footprint dimesions. (430 x 460)...a real tardis tent.
My only concern is that due to its shape there's no scope for a canopy, and even if I erected a freestanding one there would be a gap (and therefore potentially wet, boggy patch) directly where you would step out of the tent (hope that makes sense). Not sure if I should be concerned about that or not?
I'd really rather not cook in a sig tent with 2 toddlers so would that mean I'd need to get a kitchen tent aswell?
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has seen it, or had any thoughts.

Hi. I don't know the Prism at all but if you have stood inside a tent and it has called to you, then that counts for an awful lot! Its quite possible to go and see a tent that looked brilliant on the interent, someone else raves about how great it is but you get there and think uh uh, not for me. The tent has to feel right for you. (how sad does all this sound? )
Can you imagine how you and yours would fit in the Prism and how it would work on a sunny or a rainy day? Sunny day probably less important as you'd be out and about anyway.
Thanks for that Merry it did call to me! I have been on line researching tents for weeks now, and every now and then this tent popped up in a search and I though "naaaaaaaaaaaaa..too weird" but it felt lovely inside it yesterday.
I agree, if you were in a tent that calls to you then that does mean something. I've seen it in pictures and thought the same thing about the slant and thought you would lose headroom too.
I see what you mean about a canopy but can you open up doors to act like a canopy or at least let the fresh air flow?
Def go for the kitchen tent, we only paid £39 for ours at go outdoors.
Let us know how it goes!

MamaBear, I had a look at the doors, and asked the chap, but they all roll side ways to open (think that's called circus doors), so no chance of a canopy. Doors at front and back for access/ventilation.
Will definately check out the kitchen tents.
btw I've been eying up the Orchy/Sumatra too (have yet to see one pitched)...will be very interested to read your review!
Hi, was just gonna post about this very tent. We saw it up today and it is a very striking looking tent. I think if you stand and look at the front doors straight on it looks very much like a storm troopers helmet lol.
The bedroom part is huge but only had a dividing curtain so that put us off and also how sloped the inside is just inside the main doors.
I do agree with you that you that you would more than likely need a kitchen tent aswell, again due to the slope of the walls more than anything.
If you like to stand out on site, then this could be the tent for you !!
Judging from the photos this wouldn't be my first choice of tent in the Sunncamp range. Seems to me that to be innovative somebody has gone over the top on a strange shape just in order to be different. For the same cash you could obtain a Sunncamp XL Sprint in polycotton. 8 berth tent in two bedroooms in the most efficient tried and tested design..a cube with two pods running from it.

Go for the weird one !!! But do get some sort of shelter for cooking or just for sitting under on those warm wet summer nights (I'd go for a tarp myself) . Have it for the season and if you find it is not really that practical (or get fed up with people staring at you all the time) - then buy the boring one for next year ! Though saying that the boring one doesn't look too fantastic in the porch area, no side protection - good value polycotton though and a nice simple design.
We loved the look of the Prism , but it wasn't really the right layout for us , having 2 older children , but if they were still small , would probably have gone for this one .
Well the call from the Dark (canvas) side was too powerful and I have bought a Cabanon Guadeloupe (I must have a thing about sloping sides). The prism was definately in the running though
I think you will find that the design of this tent with its strange looks is mainly for performance in high winds and rain, I saw it up at the tent show at Codicote Hertfordshire and it didn't move at all while other tents around it were really struggling! Great head room too!!

i have brought a Prism 8 and what a super tent,we are both retired and i have had heart surgery in the passed, and my wife has had both hip replaced.
i can put up the tent on my own in approx 40mins.have had a couple of weeks away in it this year and the prism stood up to the bad weather in the beginning of sept with no problems at all.
my grandson got hold of the roof shock corded poles and broke the cords on both the poles and i now have a heap of pole sections.
is there anybody out there that has a prism and can measure the overall length of the ORANGE and RED roof poles so as i can reassemble them correctly
Can't help with pole lengths I'm afraid but pleased to see the good reviews of the Prism. Since my older post way back at the top of this thread I have seen the Prism up in camping shows and, as others have said, was very surprised by how good it felt inside when it looks so unconventional from the outside. I loved this tent when I saw it, but had just bought our Orchy 600 or I`d have been very tempted ( 2 new tents is 6 weeks is a bit excessive apparently)
We have a separate tarp ( £13 from Aldi this summer) with poles for cooking under.....I have seen a few threads mentioning these interlocking tiles ( I think Woofer has them in is gallery)....brilliant idea....have added them to my wishlist
Can anyone HELP !!! we have brought the sunn camp prism tent which although looks a bit diffrent we realy love. ( thought it would be ideal for 2 adults and 3children) But........ we cant seem to to get it up right, however we do it and we have tried at diffrent locations(flat locations) whenever you zip the bedroom up the groundsheet raises off the floor a good 6in making all the seams very ,very tight to the point they may start to give way!!!!!!
We have tried to ajust all we can and just cant seem to make any diffrence, I cant let my kids in to it as all the zips or seems would go the moment they put there foot down by the bedrooms!!! AHHHH please helpxx
