Bramapp, you are a very brave person and.....I am a chicken who loves to camp. Actually, I would probably be more willing to give it a go without ehu, but with little ones, I worry about the cold with them.

Hi guys, went to shell island at the weekend, used my new orchy 600 at the weekend in laurel, complete with carpet and footprint, very snug, withstood very windy and 12hrs heavy rain no probs, i tried e-mailing vango a couple of weeks ago asking ? how  am i supposed to get the tent back in the bag?, they describe it as oversized, i`d like to see how they do it, i can`t!, anyway looks like a good buy very pleased.

Shep, I had the exact same problem when I put the tent up in the garden. It went up fine, but when it came to getting it back in the bag it a bit of a problem!

It is still not in properly but in and half zipped up.

I tried rolling it a few different ways, lying on it to squash air out, all sorts, but no joy.

If anyone has any tips on getting a tent back into the bag they would be much appreciated!

It took us 2 trys to get it in the bag. We ended up rolling it very tight. I'm so grateful for my oversized bag.

We always put the bag at the end of the tent so we can see as we're folding it if it will fit. Our tent came folded and when we tried folding it back, it was just too big so as stated above, we rolled it very tightly.  Not easy to do with the polycotton and the thicker ground sheet. A bit stiff.

I heard somewhere on this forum that if you place the bag on the floor at the top end of the tent, and fold the tent to the width of the bag, the roll it up as tight as you can get it, it fits perfectly.  Apparently.  The guy who wrote it, swears by it and has never failed him, although I havent had the chance to try this out yet!

Hi I've spent 3 weeks deciding which tent to buy & I have pretty much decided to get the Vango Orchy 600, It's just me & my two kids. I've read many threads about whether or not you can put the Orchy up on your own. I've seen an on-line video with 2 people putting it up! I've now got my heart set on the Orchy 600, but just wonder if I can manage it on my own??? Any one got any experience of solo pitching the Orchy 600?

Hi Beadyspice, I have just bought an orchy 600  for exact same reasons as yourself. was hoping to have a go at putting up this weekend but was stopped by all the rain- hopefully will have a go on wednesday and will let you know- quite a few people on here seemed pretty confident it could be done- let's hope so!   Sarah x

Thanks. On balance it may not be worth chopping myself off at the knees for the sake of a tent!

Ill stick with buying the Nevada M or Oregan 5 for now then.

Jill,  Have just put up orchy in garden.. it's lovely and sunny here-very tempted to stay out there and pretend I was on lovely peaceful campsite somewhere! Good news is I managed it on my own although my brother popped round for moral support he did not help. However, there were a couple of bits the kids (my two are 10- so will be quite useful)  would be able to do like holding poles steady which I hope would make it bit quicker- it took me 40 mins. That does include time spent swapping porch and bedroom poles round with tent up when I realised I had put them wrong way round! Hopefully will be quicker next time. I got tent back in bag fairly easily but had to call on my brother to help getting poles back in as well - wouldn't have been end of the world to leave out as they have their own bag but.. 'oversized bag'?! -not quite!

One thought- main poles are really long- may be worth putting them together as you thread them through to make them easier to handle... if there were tents either side of you, you may not have the room needed to swing them about!

Was feeling very pleased with myself until I tried to put up sun canopy that I bought separately- no instructions with it and the basics were obvious enough but could not get it right at all (brother did help this time!). Any ideas?!

 Cheers, Sarah x

I can pitch my Orchy 600 solo, didn`t do a great job getting it back in the back solo!!!!

I have the large sun canopy for mine and it fits, one of the guys goes over the side doo, but we attatched it to a tree instead last time!!
