Hi folks,

we went to collect our new Vermont XL from Yeomans at Ambleside today and thought we would take some photos of the new Idaho in case anyone was interested. We liked the look of the tent and the bedrooms are very roomy. We also think that the area in front of the bedrooms could also be used as addtional sleeping areas if needed. The privacy screens are a geat idea as well. If it had had a larger porch area, we may just have got this! Anyway, enjoy the piks and if you want to ask any questions I will do my best to answer them.

Had one on test here, nice tent with as you say great living space. Unfortunately the picture does not do the tent much justice by the way it has been pitched.

The first one you posted. The canopy porch is sagging quite a lot (needs to be more taught) plus if you look at the top of the tent above the bedroom / dressing area its sagging also, needs pulling out at each end. But as you say great tent if you need opposite end bedrooms with lots of living space. I believe in SQm the main living room is approaching that of a Monty 6.

You had one on test? Are you in retail? The camping business somehow?

IHi Rickit, I just wondered after the comment that you had an Idaho up on test, the only people that I could think of doing that would be manafactureres/suppliers/retailers of them, plus you seemed very knowledgable about the different makes.

Nice photos......Well were not going to Keswick in ours this Sunday...bloody campsites flooded...Were going to Bakewell on Monday instead...I'll let you know how we get on with the Idaho. Anyway it's not how big your porch is, but what you do with it

I didn`t realise you had the Idaho muttley ! I loved the tent, but really wanted a large porch and I know exactly what to do with a big one!

Which campsite were you going to? The C&CC one? I know that one is on the lakeside and prone to flooding. It has rained a LOT around here today, so the flooding doesn`t surprise me, shame about you not being able to go though.

Yeh it is the one by the lake and I was half expecting it really.

We had the Vermont L last year (sent it back twice, after they leaked, refused to have another) though I know they've improved the the area's where the SIG attaches to canvas.

Saw the Idaho XL at the NEC in Feb and was hooked. Just like the living area, had enough of tripping over the wardrobe in the Vermont (though that was probably the cider), also the kids and OH can sleep the their own half of the tent. The only thing I'll miss about the Vermont will be the large sun canopy at the front, but you can't have everything

You tripped over the wardrobe? How many beers had you on board?

We had the Nebraska XXL and loved it, but after three faulty ones we thought enough was enough. We decided on the Vermont XL as we loved the large porch area, that was one of my demands for the replacement tent, it had to have a large porch. The only downside to the Vermont for me is that the bedrooms are smaller compared to the Nebraska, I loved being able to dress in the bedroom and store the clothes in them as well. The Vermont has the wardrobe so that solves the clothes storage, but can`t seeme being able to stand by the side of the bed to get changed in the bedrooms. Still, it`s no different than the Montana bedrooms so it`s not a major problem.

I loved the Idaho and if it had a bigger porch, I think I would have got that instead. I prefer to keep the kitchen equipment, electric coolbox, food boxes, shoes etc in the porch area and keep the living area uncluttered, which I can`t do in the Monty 6, which probably explains why I preferred to use the Nebraska before using our Monty.

The sun porch is a definite winner, can`t wait to get away in the Vermont to try out the porch for space. Am I correct in thinking that the wardrobe can be taken out of the Vermonts if you didn`t want to use them?

I'm pretty sure it can, though I didn't pay that much attention. The only time my clothes have seen a hanger was when they were purchased from the shop.

Some people actually put their porta loo etc.. in it. But not sure if it's big enough to read the paper in as well
