Hi everyone,

I'm looking to pick your brains to see if the perfect tent for our family's needs exists! We are a family of four - kids are 9 and 5 years old. Looking for a tent with the following features:

Quick/Easy to erect for one person (might be the odd weekend away with 1 adult and two children)

Full SIG

Small size when packed (don't have a roof box or trailer and would like to avoid the need).

reasonable living space for rainy days / eating etc - doesn't have to be huge, but standing height would be nice)

Hopefully a porch for cooking in

Ideally looking at spending around £100 but would consider up to £200.

The tent would really be used for weekends or up to 4 nights away at a time.

So what's the verdict? Am I being too demanding with my list of wants, or is there a tent that meets all of these criteria? We have a larger tent, but it takes time to put up and takes up too much space in the boot!

Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi- I have just ordered a Vango Orchy for similar reasons to yours... needed a smaller tent for short breaks and one I could put up on my own. There are a couple of threads on here which all looked quite positive - we have also ordered a canopy for more covered area if it rains.

SarahJG,

Thanks for the reply - I have had a look at your suggestion and am quite excited as it does seem to tick all the boxes. Out of interest, which one did you go for 400, 500 or 600?
Now I just need to find somewhere in East London that shows it pitched! I like the idea of the fitted carpet too!

Thanks again.

I went for 600 as it seemed better if all 4 of us used it...( I think they expect you to really squash up if you look at the measurements of the bedrooms! ) although mostly it will be for me and my twin girls (10). Had email yesterday to say ours had been sent so expecting it Monday- very excited. I will be going for carpet too once bank balance recovers a bit from tent!
