Hello,

We've just purchased this tent for two adults and two young children?

There are instructions, but no DVD for putting it up. Having looked at the Vango site for the Killington, which is very similar, it appears that you need 3 adults.  

As we are novices, can anybody out there give us some practical advice, in relation to putting it up, using the most constructive method? Is it difficult for 2 to put it together?

Why do you think the tent needs 3 people to put it up?. I can't get the video to play, so I am assuming that it is because of the higher dome bit in the middle, Do they have someone to go inside and hold up the middle poles, while the other 2 people fix the pins in the poles? Is this right?

If so, yes it is certainly easier to have someone inside, but it can still be done by 2 people, one end of pole is fixed onto its pin and then run around to the other side to fix the other pin in.

depending how old the children are, maybe they could hold the pole steady once the first pin is fixed , while the other end is being done.

campers are a friendly lot, don't be shy to ask your fellow campers to give you a hand, most of would come and offer you assistance if you look as if you need it anyway. When you arrive on site, smile and say hello to your neighbours, get chatting and tell them you're new to camping, and say you're not sure if you can put it up by yourselves most are only too willing to help.

Tip: take two mallets with you so you can peg down in double quick time. have the children get involved too, by following you and handing you the pegs.

it is important to try to have a practise run before you go, not only to familiarise youself with how it goes up, but also to check that everything is there , imagine getting to a site and finding you have a piece missing.  if your gardens too small go the park.

I purchased a Zenith 6 last year and only got to use it in June of this year. I tried a practice pitch with my father before i went camping with my girlfriend and small child. We did manage to erect the tent, but with great difficulty. In fact we almost snapped a pole, whilst trying to erect the centre dome.

When we eventually got to site, i tried to set the tent up with my girlfriend. The wind was blowing and this made it almost impossible to erect the tent. We eventually got help from a fellow camping neighbour. With 3 of us now erecting the tent, the tent was erected much more easily.

If anyone does have any tips for erecting this large tent, i would be one person keen to know them (it would save an argument with my girlfriend next time).
