Well I thought we had decided on a tent but now hubby has had a look around and are now not too sure which one to go for!

We are looking for preferably an all in one pitch, but has to have SIG - 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 4).

If anyone could give advise on any of the following tents would be appreciated.

Outwell Nevada XL

Wynnster Kestrel 6

Outdoor Revolution Starcamper 8

Vango Oregon 800

Vango Albany 800

Khyam Ontario 8

Khyam Kansas 8

I have got myself so confused looking at all the different tents! Some of these may well not have SIGs but I really can't remember!

My head is hurting from all this!!!

Or how about Peakland Alport Tunnel Tent? It says all in onoe pithing - but does that necessarily mean that it has a SIG?

Peakland Alport has a detachable groundsheet which mean it isn't SIG

Have you looked at the Wynnster Carina 8?  We've just got one.  Website pictures don't do it justice - I had dismissed it until I actually saw one.  Great tent (with SIG).

It is probably a good idea to try and see some up, it is often hard to judge from pictures like Taek1 said. You may want to make a list of what are the most important features to you such as pitching time, weight, size of windows, no of vents, no of doors and position, height, configeration of bedrooms, waterproofing. It may then help you to rank your choices.

If you want something really easy to pitch take a look at the Khyam quick erect ranges as well.

Good luck with your search

HI we had a Gelert Alaska 8 which we had to return due to problems, but we seen the Vango and it looks so superior. It has cross straps inside to make it more stable as tunnels are notoriously unstable in high winds. Didnt get one though went for a Vango Diablo 600xp instread.

Hi, I was considering the 2 Khyams and  and the 2 vangos, as well as nevada xl.

i knew the style and size I wanted, and wanted a tent for about £200. I knew I would also want the carpet to match and they're around £45 extra.

They were all quite similar in spec, but in the end I decided to go for the outwell nevada xl, because I found a great deal on a 2007 model, which has not changed in design for 2008.

winfields have the 2007 nevada xl for £235, including free carpet and delivery. I bought it last week, and it arrived in 2 days. Cheapest place I could find it. The 2008 model is around £299 everywhere.

Yes it has a sig, and a cable entry zip for your hook up lead.

the bedrooms are already in place, and you don't need to take them out to pack away  if you don't want to, makes it even quicker.

Standing height throughuot the tent.

there are plenty of storage pockets in the living area, and in the bedrooms

it is a great size tent, 2 x 4 berth bedrooms, one has a dividing curtain .

4 huge windows, with roll up curtains on the inside of the tent, so you don't get wet closing the curtains in the rain,  and mesh flyscreens on the inside of the doors.

The extra door and windows were the deciding point for me, I had a tent with small windows once, and didn't like it, these windows come down almost to the ground.

doors on both sides, one door has a little rain canopy, and a 3rd door on the end through the back of the bedroom , for great ventilation  those hot sunny days, if we ever get them. a lot of the tunnels only have the 2 side door. the doors can be used as canopies, but you have to but a set of canopy poles seperately .

it took 20 minutes to pitch. Very easy , would recommend it to beginners.

World of camping have a good view of the inside of the smaller  6 berth version here

i agree it's best to see some pitched, but I couldn't find one local, but I was more than happy with mine, so were my 2 sisters, and  they've also ordered one each.

Some better quality tunnel tents have lateral poles going from front to back for added stability. I saw one last week(Outwell Bear Lake) on display. Most of the other tents were being blown almost flat in the gale force wind but the Bear Lake remained rock solid. It's a pity it's 700 quid and unless one of you would care to make a birthday present of it to me sadly, I can't afford one.

the outwell sunvally all so as the poles going from front to back but doesn't cost as much as the bear lake. may be worth a look
