Hi, we are planning our first tent purchase and was wondering if anyone could give advice if the Sunncamp Invader 600 would be a good choice.

We have had a look at it today and like the room that it has and the guy at the tent shop said it is a good choice for new campers as it's easy to put up

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated

It looks like a decent tent , I would check out prices online against the shop price to check. Sunncamp are a well respected brand.

There are lots of tents around with similar layouts if you like it for example this for a bit more will give you a higher level of waterproofing, more features and a canopy to cook under.

Hi

I like the idea of a canopy will take a look into the tent you have recommended

How do you know how waterproof a tent is?  We are new campers, sorry!

When you see the details of a tent it usually states the hh (hydrostatic head) rating, eg. 2000hh, 3000hh or 5000hh. The simple explanation of this is that the higher the number, the better the tent will withstand heavy rain.

Hey, don't apologise for being new campers - we've all been there at some point

By the way, welcome to the forum - you'll soon be addicted like the rest of us

I lurrrrrrrv tunnel tents! They are the easiest to pitch - once you master it - with loads of space inside.

How many of you are there? We have a Locon Vario 5 for the 2 of us but we do like a bit of space to move in

The HH is the Hydrostatic Head which is the amount of water that the fabric can withstand before it starts to leak.

explanation

2000HH is a pretty standard although some have gone onto 3000HH Our first tent was 1500HH and never leaked!

Are you planning to camp weekends or only longer camps? A quick pitch tent is vital for a weekend jobbie - you don't want to spend most of the day pitching a tent while the kids whine about going to the beach/park/walk.

Lots of things need to be considered when buying a tent - the main consideration is what you want it for.
