Hello,

Big sigh,

I need help, we currently have a montana 8 (the one without a SIG) and a diablo 600xp (2007). We went away in both last year and both time was in horrendous weather.

I am in a real quandry we are booked to go away at Whitsun but know for a fact that a) the tent wont allow us to pitch the vango (restriction of pitch size) and b)that if we have poor weather the living space isn't sufficient for us and the 3 kids (ek in a vango600 all zipped in :-().

So I was thinking of getting the every trusty monty 8 out as it has so much more living space and is so much more sturdy in high winds and then.......I saw the Montana 6 which has the benefit of a SIG.

So now I am torn between flogging the monty 8 and investing the 6! What are you honest opinions.

Also I am put of using the vango due to its huge pitch size and poor living space size. Also we managed to ping a couple of guys last august in the gales. I also feel safer knowing the outwell has a higher water resistance than the vango.

oh please help I don't really want to have to buy another tent if I don't need to.Bascially it comes down to the SIG ......

cheers folks

Naomi

Hi, we bought the monty 6 last year and are very happy with it - there are plenty of pages detailing the pros of this tent! We had the diablo 900 and found it a nightmare to find pitches to fit and needed to book ahead (i prefer to see what the weather will be).

The monty has better use of the living space, we are two adults, two under eights and a dog and find it plenty big enough - i have just bought the front extension to go with it for cooking though.

Check the bedroom sizes though for fitting beds for three kids in though, should be big enough.  All in all fab tent.

Hi Naomi

I thought the vango diablo (600xp) was supposed to be good in the wind due to its "geodesic" design? we live and camp in very windy area on the coast. it looks huge as well. hmmm. :?
