Hi, I erected my tent the other day and all was well, apart from the groundsheet bit.  I have never been camping nor even been near a tent before so can some one help me out here!  When I pegged the tent down (its a Royal la Rochelle 4), there seemed to be a big gap between the ground and the bottom of the tent.  The groundsheet just sort of laid there, but I couldnt help thinking that if it rained, the rain would just come straight under the gap and all over the groundsheet.  I have been looking at other threads and read about storm flaps, but all I have is the tent, no other flaps or bits or inside bits and outside bits (apart from the bedroom which is sig).  Do you need to create a sort of curve all round the outside of groundsheet to keep water out?  Or did I erect it wrong in the first place and there shouldnt even be a gap!  In your replies, please speak to me as if I was five or I won't understand!!!!!  Thanks in advance!

There are a few that have this tent on here you may fare better by posting again with the tent name to attract their attention.   As I don't have one of these the best I can suggest is that you pitch the fly as close to the ground as you can.  Also if you don't have mud flaps that a bit of DIY could help.  A bath tub ground sheet may be needed.  To make on of these  buy a tarpaulin from the likes of B&Q   draw round your present groundsheet them draw another line round that 6 - 9 inches out  cut out the shape.  Fold up the extra 6 - 9 inches and stitch at the corners  this will give the bath tub shape and hopefully your fly will then be lower than your groundsheet.

My apologies you have the tent name in don't know how I missed that

Also I forgot to mention you will need to peg the new ground sheet down the  two options are eyelets available from most camping shops or when sewing the corners up you will have excess material a second row down about an inch wide will allow you to use it as a pegging point with a long peg through .
