Hi all

I'm almost there with deciding on a new tent - requirements - pitchable by one feeble woman, standing room, SIG,  not too expensive.

I'm now looking at the Vango Yukon or Idaho. The Yukon looks great on paper but I haven't seen it put up. It's bigger and heavier (18kg) than the Idaho (11kg). Does anyone know if it's feasable for me to pitch it on my own, given that I'm not the strongest of people?

Cheers

Bev

Hi Sharon

They look great don't they? Have you seen one in the flesh, so to speak? Would love to know just how big the 400 is.

Hi. As a rule, tunnel tents are easier to put up singlehanded than a dome tent. As you say though, the Yukon is pretty hefty at 18 kilos. If it was me, I'd be looking for the easiest tent for me to put up and then get on with enjoying my holiday, not a tent I could put up but it would be a struggle.

So, a tunnel tent but lighter eg a Sunncamp Ventura or a Gelert Stratus.

Even easier to put up would be a Khyam qe flexidome eg a Freelander or a Classic XL.

Easier still would be a small frame tent. There are some small Cabanons (a Champagne and something else) on Ebay now which will probably go for around the £100 mark.  If I was on my own with a small child now that would be my top choice. Simplest and least physical effort to put up, comfortable and practical to camp in. MT
