Hi there,

Phew what a task we have narrowed the list down to the Nebraska XL at £400, the Vermont L at £449, Vango Diablo 900 at £339 and a wild card Khyam Brekenridge delux ay £235. Can anyone give some advise on any of these Tents as the Kyam is tempting because of the price. However, i would rather spend the money if the quality goes up with the price.

thanks

As I have never had either of the other two tents I can only comment on the Vango 900

First a Diablo 600 for 4 years ish, now a 900 (last year)

I would not by another type of  tent absolutely fantastic the only problem I had was trying to erect the tent in very high winds  this Easter it was far to windy and I managed to snap two bedroom poles. To be honest it was stupid of me to even try and put it up but there you go! loads of space inside you would never regret buying this tent and no I don’t work for Vango. They are very weather proof (when up) 9 out of 10 from me!!

Oh, and  if you have family (like mine) who thought  camping is crouched in a soggy field trying to heat beans and a totally uncomfortable experience. This tent with all its accessories footprint ,canopy, carpets can convert the most anti camper around to your thinking though you may have to bye a bigger car!!

There is just something about those Outwells that doesn’t do it for me, although well made I think it’s the bedroom arrangements side by side I don’t like. But the Vango Diablo separate wings (so to speak) I do.

It just feels like you are far enough away rather than looking at friends through the mesh perhaps a silly statement to some but that’s me.

Hope that helped

We loved our Khyam but the new models are not as good. The Nebraska is the nearest to our Khyam for space but I was scared off by the leaking tent stories. My Brother and Sister in law have the Vango Diablo 900 and it is a bit of a handful to put up - it also has a very big footprint so you would not be welcome everywhere.

I have decided on the Vango Zanzibar 800 (see post recently) but also looked at the Amazon 800 which is the same tent but not polycotton. We liked the big living space and the efficient use of the footprint - pretty well fits on a standard CCC pitch.

I would think twice before buying an ebay special from tentastic, have a look at some of past threads on the tents they sell, rage and leben. See here and here. However you can sometimes get Vango, Khyams etc at good prices on ebay.

We have had Khyams and Outwell tents and found them both to be good quality, I would think about the footprint size as some sites charge extra for big domes like the diablo. Also the eae of putting it up and down especially if you intend to use it for lots of weekends, loads of people on here buy big tents then end up forking out again for a weekend tent (us included) see here for past threads. We use a Outwell Indiana for week or ore trips and the Khyam XXL for anything shorter as it pitches in minutes.

Just to say thank you for all your great tips and advise. We have made our decision and will be purchasing an Outwell Vermont L. Just need to find an good price. Does anyone know of one for sale or recommend a competative site.

Once again thanks.
