For years we have owned a Wild Country Hyperspace tent, a true 4 season unit, that has been out in all weathers and never failed us.  However we recently decided to move from what is essentially a small top of the range backpacking tent, to a larger ‘proper’ tent to make use of the obvious benefits such as standing up straight, walking around, getting dressed whilst vertical  etc.  Therefore a few weeks ago we bought an Outwell Minnesota 4 from Yeomans and all the nice bits that go with it.  We took the tent out last weekend and we love it but the weather was dry and calm.  I was happy with my purchase until I visited this forum to find that a number of people have had trouble with the tent leaking.

I would therefore be grateful to know if anyone has one of these tents and can perhaps tell me their experiences, good as well as bad.

Thanks

We have not had any problems with our Minnesota apart from a split pole on the side porch(caused by having to bend this pole 180 degrees over a short length).

No leaks but a bit of condensation following a cold night in the lakes when we had four people in the tent withthe black cat heater on.It has stood up to some rough weather and has been a good buy.

Hi Marcus,

Welcome!

You will soon appreciate all the benefits of a larger tent. Although it can get colder, so I even bought an eklectric hookup at Easter as it was so cold!

Just remember that your Hyperspace (very nice tent btw, I nearly bought one  when I bought my VE-25) is built for serious weather and in some places in this country the rain and wind can be severe so the larger tent is never going to replace a real mountain tent! Still I have been on a long search for the perfect replacement large tent so that I can still camp in the winter, in the remoter Scttish windy regioons etc and not be cramped for a couple of weeks. Outwell has come up trumps for me too so I am sure the new tentwill just add to your fun.

Julie

Our first tripin the minnesota was the easter holiday weekend when it snowed. We were absolutley fine. There was a little condensation but the tent was remarkable. I felt totally safe in it.

The only down side i can find is that the tent material is too light in the bedroom area - it couldhave done with being darker so i can have a little more sleep on the light mornings.

happy camping.
