I love my Montana 6, however I find it difficult to put up (especially when the children help). I usually ask other members of the family to help, but after they have put up their tent I am sure they would like to rest rather than tackle another tent. Can you help to find a similar tent which has lightweight poles or is easy to put up. I would like a sewn in ground sheet and I also would like a model based on the same shape as the Montana. Any ideas of which tent to look at would be appreciated.
thanks

I have an outwell nevada xl, which is quicker to put up than the monty, which I had a few years back, only takes about 20 mins.
But my sister ordered a wynnster kestrel 6 yesterday, from here, which has a similar size and layout to the montana. This has fibreglass poles so I'm hoping its going to be a just as quick one to set up. It also has steel side strengthening bars too which run from front to back of the tent. It also has a sewn in groundsheet. the front panel also zips out and can be moved further inside the tent to make a porch area.
there are some great pics of the kestrel 5, slightly smaller version on this thread.
hi marnie we too have the montana 6; the first two times we put up the tent we found it difficult.the outwell video was not very helpful to us we found this method easier:-
1. put up rear uprights and roof poles and peg out at back
2. continue forwards with roof section first then uprights
that way you are only lifting an empty tent we hope this helps you
We have a pro action hyperdome which needs 2 people at least. At less than 5ft I really struggled with it so wasno help. I can't really help you butt would be very interested in the alternative you go for.

Over the past two years we've had various tents, domes and tunnels, some are easy erect and others not so easy, last year we decided to try going back to a Canvas frame tent and got a good deal on a second hand Relum Canaria, you'd swear it was new, my god, i'd forgotten how easy they were to erect, much easier than modern tents
Being a widow I camp alone, am just abt to start intoducing 5yr old g.dau. to "joys" of camping. Early & late or doubtful weather & for family use I use a Khyam Tourer. several yrs old, but Khyam system so easy. Opens & goes up like an umbrella. Solo I can put up & secure major pegs & guys in 20 mins. Then have a dry windfree area to do sleeping areas. For lightweight solo camping I have just got a Lichfield Cherokee3, for me & dog. I have used other Kyham models & all are just as good, & erect very simply.
