Hi
We've decided that with two energetic boys (2 and 5) camping might be the way forward for family getaways but.........we need a tent!
As we're new to camping and by that I mean never we're finding the whole tent choosing thing rather daunting.
For me a tent has to be
6 man, sewn in groundsheet and a vis a vis sleeping arrangement.
We dont really want to spend anymore than £200 as we're not sure if we'll like it or not. Really want the Outwell Nevada L but its a bit pricey. We've looked at the Kyham Kansas (which seems to be same as ontario) and the Vango Albany 600. as they seem to be quite similar to the outwell.
So after all that rambling really want to know if anyone has any experience of either of these tents or any other suggestions.
Thanks
Shaz

Hi mrs horsey .....we have an albany + canopy (we also have a vango diablo 600) we decide to go with the albany cos of how easy it is to pitch and stayed with vango because the quality of there tents are very good. What ever tent you choose hope you enjoy your camping with the kids as much as we have over the last few years the only regret is we didn't start camping sooner

Hi Mrs Horsey we have the Ontario 6 which as you say is the same as the Kansas 6 also available in 8 man versions. Kansas is Outdoormegastores own design last year with the SIG for the first time, now Khyam have caught on and offer the ontario with a SIG. Can't comment on the other tent you mention but we love our Ontario, we have two kids 8 & 5 and this tent meets all our needs. Me and DD (5) sleep in the big bedroom on one side and OH and DS (8) sleep in the double room on the other side. This works for us as DD is a light sleeper and DS is likely to wander to the loo on his own if he wakes up no matter what time of night it is. So this way me and OH can keep and eye on them during the night. We use the single room as a store room/cupboard, keep all our food in here in collapsible boxes and the boys keep their clothes in here as well. We also have the Kyham Sun Porch (we haven't used it yet) but we had the Sun Canopy last year, you can see it in our pics and it was a brilliant bit of kit, gave us room to store the stove and table, somewhere to leave shoes if it rained (and it rained last year didn't it) and it kept the water out of the tent. I would say a brilliant tent for a family If you've got any questions I'll try and answer them.

Another Ontario fan here - we have the 8 version which is great for our family of 2 adults, 4 kids and a loopy dog.
We paid £189 for our tent last year and got the footprint groundsheet thrown in for free.

Hi Liz. Thank y8u for your recommendation. I have now just managed to win an Ontario (6 birth) on ebay - and local to me - for just over £100. I hope thats a pretty good price if the 8 birth is around the £190 mark. Anyway, if HEJC72 can squeeze 2 adults 4 kids and a dog in their eight birth, than I think I can get me, 2 kids and a puppy in the 6 birth. Again, thank you for your recommendation as I'd not looked at the Ontario prior to this.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your replies think we're going to go for the Ontario and see how we like the idea of camping then maybe if its a success we'll look at upgrading! Am still looking longingly at the Nevada but as we're brand new to camping we've got to start from scratch we've not even got sleeping bags so think its going to be an expensive set up!
