Hi guys, I am looking to buy my first ever tent \o/

I need a 2 main tent for use at festivals preferably with a porch (great for muddy wellies). We have borrowed in the past and used a very cheap one from Argos, which never leaked but they have stopped selling.

Not looking to spend that much as it will only be used a handful of times a year. £60 and under...

How about the Lichfield Cherokee: http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/acatalog/LICHFIELD_CHEROKEE_2_TENT__2006_.html

You get a lot of porch for your money and dead easy to put up!

My top tip is a Gelert Tornado 3 http://www.oswaldbailey.co.uk/eshop.asp?wci=product&wce=51101801&desc=TORNADO+3+PERSON+TENT

Well within your budget, spacious for two or even better for one, a manageable weight for carrying it across festival fields, reputable make/decent quality, useable porch size for boots and sitting under in rain or sun. The porch has front and side doors so you can vary it to suit the weather conditions -  when tents have  a smaller porch and front opening only it can be hard to keep the rain etc out of the main sleeping dome.

Also, the main structure is a dome rather than a tunnel and domes can be better for festivals. Tunnel tents are more dependent on their guys to stay up so are more vulnerable to problems when other festival goers trip over your guys.  MT

Thanks guys. I will have a look at your recommendations.

Hopefully the weather will be good at Glastonbury this year and I won't need to test how waterproof it is.

*BUMP*

Argos have a sale on this bank holiday weekend for a 6 man Pro Action tent for £39.99.
It is a lot of tent for the price and seems a great buy. Has anyone bought a proaction tent in the past? I have heard mixed reviews about the cheaper brands.

Would it be worth buying a smaller 'better branded' tent?

Thanks for the advice :) I have had a good read of some of the threads on here and the ProAction tents have generally bad reviews.

There are a lot of Vango tents around £50 on Ebay, are they worth buying?

You should be able to find a decent Vango on Ebay. I would suggest you go for one which is less than 3 years old & obviously in good condition - not used very much. There is always a risk involved when buying a tent on Ebay, but I've bought four tents in this way which have been brilliant - however, I did buy one bad one through Ebay too. I've not been put off by that, and would buy a tent through Ebay again, but make up your own mind

Ended up going with the Vango Alpha 400. It is plenty of space for the 2 of us and within our budget.

Thanks to everyone who helped.
