read this it might interest you, lots of these people seem to be able to get this tent up on their own! and it's about 135 quid by the looks of it, seems good with plenty of headroom well waterproofed and sewn in groundsheet and large living area!  and it's a vango, they're brill!!! what more could you need lol

I have the vango venture 500 and I thoroughly recommend it. I use it a lot when I go on my own with the kids.  I can have the tent up and pegged out fully in about 20 minutes.  Its a doddle to pitch even on your own with plenty of room for three.

For camping with just me and the kids we have a vango venture and I can pitch on my own (I'm only 5'3), although campers being such a friendly bunch usually will come and help so there's been very few times where I have had to do it on my own but I have always been able to do it.  The tent is ideal for me and the mini terrorists aged 2 & 4.  Good sized sleeping area and living space for three.  When hubby can come too we have a Outwell Montana 6.

Whichever tent you decide hope you have some great trips kids will love it!!!  We're off to Whitby next week! Keeping our fingers crossed fordecent weather!!

Just found Vango Venture for £75 ideal first tent if it doesn't work out i'm sure you could ebay it not lose much!!!

Hi I have a Gelert Cadiz 5 for when its just me and the kids for the weekends.   (Longer and I would take the frame - but thats because I love frame tents).   Easy to put up, solo.   Although the kids can now hold the poles and help with the pegging,  I could manage without them.   (Alice is 7, and Pip, although 9 is very small, and young for his age),  I'm only 5'2".
Make sure that you have somewhere to sit if it is wet, or more essentially where you can sit when the kids are in bed.   I kow that when I go with the just the kids we can make do with a far smaller living area than if hubby is with us.  

Have a look at the various tents, and if you think that they most expensive one is going to be best for you, then go for it - otherwise you will probably regret it.

Our fist tent was classed as a four man, and it was a lovely tent, but only had a small section between the two bedroom pods for living.   No good on a very wet weekend.

Also think about the bedroom pods,  you don't want to be crawling around a tent a two in the morning when a little one wants mummy.    I now have the kids in with me,  or in a pod that is next to mine, rather than at the other end of the tent.
