Has anyone got and used the Sunncamp Vulcan?
We saw this at a camping show last week. It looks adequate for our needs for a family of 4 but wondered whether it would get hot in warm weather as it is black. Also a little undecided on whether the living area is big enough as we have only been camping once in a borrowed tent so not clear on how much space we would need. Thanks for any advice

Just seen this thread whilst idling away. Sorry Piecm!

We have had a Vulcan for two months and so far have managed half a dozen trips.

It does get very warm when the sun shines BUT it has so many windows and vents that this is never a problem. Except maybe when packing up, then it is a good excuse to send the kids off to play and yourself and your other half can strip down and get on with packing up what feels like a sauna

We do have a problem with the aluminium poles but as this is currently being "discussed" with our retailer I will hold back on my thoughts. When this is resolved I will post more details.

Thanks very much for your info Trifecta

We ended up buying the Vulcan at that show. It happened to be a very hot day and the Vulcan felt cooler than some of the other Sunncamp tents nearby. Hope all gets resolved with your aluminium poles. I'd appreciate knowing about it once sorted.

We were a bit stunned by the packed size of tent plus poles (large - hope there's room to take other things in the car!). We naively didn't check this before paying up.

Vulcan may well get its first use during half term.

How did you get on Piecm?

We have had a full season now with almost total satisfaction, we had a pole break very early on but when that was eventually sorted out it was clear water all the way.

Two weeks on Bodmin Moor during the height of the summer storms and nothing worse than a bent canopy pole, no water ingress at all, various weekends (usually in gale force winds) and even a very frosty weekend recently and we were nice and warm, despite no hook up.

My only real complaint about the design is the way that the baffles get caught in the zip when trying at three in the morning for a quick getaway and..err..that is about it. All rings and guys in order and my spares and repairs bag is thankfully untouched.

Smashing tent, how did you find it?

I have a Sunncamp Sprint which is the same colour and it isn't black, it's light grey and dark grey with a blueish hue. It doesn't get overly hot but when was the last time it was hot in this country ?

You should do a tent review for the tent review section so others can see how good the tent is (or otherwise)

We did manage to get some use during that half term and it was lovely. We are novice campers having only done one camp summer 07 with a borrowed tent so we didn't know what to expect. The Vulcan was easy to put up, held out the rain and was not overly hot but we didn't get very hot weather. Our summer was overshadowed by bereavement hence we didn't get to use our new toy but we're raring to go next year. Trifecta - your post is really encouraging - feel we made a good choice. I agree - it would be good if you could do a tent review if you had the time.

Only thing is.... it takes up so much space in the boot. I can see we'll be investing in a roof box or something next!
