just wondering if anyone has got a pharaoh 6. Just bought one of these from our local winfields for 149 pounds which seemed like a good deal. ( have seen it on some sites for over 300) We didn't go to buy a new tent, but thought it might be ok for weekends away. any thoughts on this tent, cos we have always liked our wynnster venus 5 but its not really big enough even for weekends now.
Thanks.Sooze

I'm not familiar with the Pharaoh 6 but it looks like a nice size for the money. I have another Wynnster tunnel tent, the Kestrel 5, and think it's great. Hope yours brings you as much enjoyment.

We just bought one of these, just went for a look round saw price etc. etc.

The best thing for us, is that unlike any other tent I can find, and we already have a couple of large tents, the inner tents run down one side. This leaves a long section of tent on the other side in which we can store kayaks away from prying eyes.

This reply is in reply to other comments but they are not now appearing. There were four pages before I regestered (new to this forum)

Just located the other replies, they are on a link to the four man model

Best regards Bob

Hope you enjoy yours

Hi Sooze,I have recently bought the Pharaoh 4,and been away for a few days in it,like you hadnt seen it erected but couldnt miss it at that price...£99 !,as far as I can tell it is just a shorter version of your tent, and with 2 hanging bedrooms instead of 3, I have left a review of it on the review section.I am really chuffed to bits with it and am sure you will be with yours.. Raf48 ....what a good idea about the Kayaks..

One problem I can envisage is with the open porch end.

As this is open ended, in strong winds it may act like an umbrella, and try to make the tent lift off!  I think I will take a spare ground sheet, that I can temp. fix over this end, in case of high winds.

We didnt have very high winds,so I dont know how it will behave, the whole tent is very sturdy,I definatly wouldnt want to risk having it pitched into the wind just in case,we had torrents of rain though with flooding locally..not on site thank goodness...and there wasnt a drop inside anywhere. The only problem we had when first putting up is that it is quite hard to distinguish between the large front door and rear of the tent as is there is a small canopy on the back end as well..was quite funny to see us keep keep walking round with masses of tent till we worked out exactly which way was which!

Thanks for those replies folks. can't wait to try it out. Like many of you, we also have other tents, but this looked a good space for its money. Hoping to try out soon and can then post a review of it.

Hi,

Just back from a test pitching of our pharaoh 6.

Exactly 30 minutes from opening the car boot to having it semi pitched.

Didn't time the booring bits like fitting the three sleeping pods or the final few guy lines, but probably another ten minutes. If you are less the 5' 5" as we are, you will require some type of step up. I can only just reach the front zip at the top, my wife can't.

Clever sleeping pods which have colour coded clips so they fit in the correct order Red Blue Yellow and Green elastics.

Even easier to take down. We seperated the roof poles and put them in  the tent bag, just leaving the side leg poles in the original bag. This evens out the weight better, and we had no trouble getting it back in the bag.

The only sad bit is that we will not be using this tent on our next trip, because my wife wants to take the Aspen with a new large porch that she bought. Still we will be going a few more times this year, and you never know she may change her mind as she really likes this tent as well.

Bob
