Hi and welcome to the site.

Although I don't know any of these tents, things I would consider are the sleeping arrangements - where are the pods located in the tents?   If one of the kids needs you in the night the last thing you want it to have to trail to the other end of the tent.
We have a couple of tents with a communal sleeping area, and this is so much easier, especially for poor mummy, who is the one who has to get up at 2am when one of the kids need to loo or something.  (At least with us it is - herd of elephants could run through our tent, and Richard would just grunt and go back to sleep.)
You will find that some tents with a large sleeping area, also have a divider curtain which can be used to make two smaller areas withing the one pod.
A reasonable living area is a must with kids - as you will need somewhere for them to be able to play if they can not play out, for what ever reason.     Last thing you want to do is be triping over each other.    A very wet weekend in a tent with no living space is why we decide we needed a bigger tent, and one with a living area.    We'd started with a Litchfield Arapaho 4  - 4 people 4 man tent.   Lovely tent etc - but no living area, and after a very wet weekend, we knew that somewhere to sit inside the tent was a must.

Hope you find the ideal tent - I am sure that you will.
Have a great time camping - we love it.

Hi mick, and welcome to the site

First thing that struck me was, that you said you have seen a few tents, do you mean, you've seen them in the flesh, or just online? Because you can't beat having a good nosey round inside a tent to know whether it feels right for you. Try to get to a display if tou can. I know its not always possible and I have bought 3 tents this last month without seeing them up first.

I am assuming you are a new to camping, so would recommend the tunnel shape tents over  the diablo. Tunnels are a lot  simpler and quicker to put up.

The montana and sunvalley, vaguely similar styles, great family  tents with huge living space. I have no experience of the sun valley, but did have the montana once, and  couldn't fault it.

. The oregon, much smaller, would be  better as just a weekender tent than a family holiday one In my opinion, the living space wouldn't do for me with 2 small kids.. .

And last,  to throw another in for you to consider, as £300 plus for a new tent to start camping for the first time, is quite a lot of money if you don't all take to it.

Have a look at the wynnster kestrel 6, which I got this month from outdoorkit  for half price at £150, would suit a family and is similar in size to the montana.

You can read all about it and see better phots of the tent here

If you live in the northwest I would visist a few different places as each will have a different display such as Go outdoors, Camperlannds, Castlecroft, Outdoor action, Outdoor World and Winfields.

Go Outddors do not have a huge range on display at stockport.
