Hi all

I am a newbie camper - we purchased a Gelert cyclone 6 tent about 3 years ago (before my son was born) used it once, and are now restarting the camping events!

One problem we have with this tent is which order the poles should be threaded through and would love a bit of info from anyone who has this tent who can help.

We don't know whether the blue poles get threaded in first, or last?  The black and plue poles cross over each other at the top of the tent so either blue with be over black (or vice versa) - which is correct?

Also, we have only put this up about 3 times (2 practice runs and once for real), but I feel that we can never get the tent taught enough - always seems to flap about in the wind a bit - what could we be doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give

regards Donna and her motley crew :o)

Hi Donna, welcome to ukcs , I have put the aztec palcio 6 tent up, my sister has one , it is almost a replica of the cyclone. Can't really remember which ones go in first ofhand,it was a few years ago,  but generally speaking, I'd say put the longest poles in first, so the longest, heaviest ones are taking the weight of the shorter  ones on top of them.

did you make sure the tension straps inside the tent were lying taut and flat on the ground and in straight even lines before pegging out?Pull the poles out as far as poss to get the straps flat.  If they not , the tent won't sit in proper shape, might cause it not being tight enough.

also, the porch bit, Do you have to put the poles into holes in the tension strap or the ground sheet, maybe? ?  to get the right shape, i seem to remeber that puzzled me at first as I couldn't get it right shape to start with

that's all I can think of at the moment.

Hi

we have a gelerte satelite 6. Dont worry about the poles it doesnt matter. The tension straps between poles which are under the groundsheet are the key. If they are too tight the tent will be too high and the sleeping pods wont touch the ground...too lose and the tent is low and the groundsheet is too small....do a trial run and optimise the height of the tent so that both sleeping pods and groundsheet fit and leave the tension straps in that position so that its ok for the real thing...after that if the tents still flapping then adjust guy ropes....we have never stopped ours flapping in the wind (its not canvas, its wot they do) but then again it has never been blown down and weve been in some good thunderstorms.
