Hi, I am looking at the Oregon 3 or 4 but have yet to see them up. I have a Montana 6 and a Phoenix but am looking for a tent to fit in the middle. I need a 1/2 night tent to accomodate 2 adults and 2 children but needs to be small enough to put up solo. As it will probably used for me alone for up to a week I would like some room but not much. I have thought of the Oregon 5 but don't want a 'tall' tent unless we can't all get in the 4. Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Hi Techlab...you won't get 4 of you in the Oregon 3, it's a 3 berth, as the bedroom width is only 1800mm. The Oregon 4 is of course a 4 berth at 2400mm wide. Even this is tight for 4, depends how big the kids are. I was looking at it purely for 2 of us. Both, I believe are single pod bedrooms with no divider. You will appreciate the extra room in the Oregon 4 also, slightly higher at 160cm outside opposed to 145cm on the 3. Plus a bit more porch space of course. Even the 4 would be a bit small for more than 1/2 nights. Whilst the measurements show the bedroom at 215cm length, I found that when I lay in a demo one, the inner tent hangs down at the back a bit and for anyone tallish, say 5' 11" or more, it might be a bit annoying. I'd imagine a double air bed would push the inner wall up a little.

There would be hardly any difference pitching them as the technique is the same and you could erect yourself, though the 3 would be a tad easier I'd imagine. As it's a tunnel design, thread poles, then peg out the back first, lift the 3 hooped poles and stretch out the tent to the full extent. Peg out a front guy to hold the tent up temporarily, then move from rear to front to tighten up the shape properly. Should be a doddle.

I'm sure others will come along with other possible tents to look at.

Thanks for the reply. I think i will go for the 4. My main calculation was based on my existing airbeds! I reckoned I could get my double and one and a half singles in the 4..
The main reason I wanted a low height profile is that I will be camping oct nov and dec in Scotland and Wales and Delta pegs can only do so much!-). I will see if I can tracka 4 down in Lincoln tomorrow,

Can by online here..about the cheapest I found. Bear in mind if anything is wrong with it you will have to send back by post at your cost, so if you can find one fairly local for a tenner more, might be a better option. £88 online + p/p/

Good luck.

We have the oregon 4 - can't say how you'll find the space for 4 people as there are only two of us but I can put ours up solo.

Hi carel. Thanks. I think I will go for the 4. It looks ok with plenty of bed space - it won't in a year or so but for now it will do the trick. In the future the lads can have their own small tent and I can get a lie-in for once!
