Hi guys
Has anyone got one of these? or used Tentastic?
I got one of these at the end of last year off ebay (new) through Tentastic because it was cheaper than the vango aspen. When it arrived I had to have poles sent out as some were missing and due to bad weather, we did a quick pitch to check it was ok (didn't clip everything in or peg it down. Anyway, the story goes, took it out for the first outing last weekend (weather not too bad, a bit of wind, nothing horrendous but we were in quite a secluded area of a scout camp)myself and 4 other scout leaders put the tent up and the seams accross the inner tent tore in 2 places. It didn't seem too bad, thought it would repair easily enough and then on Friday night the tent collapsed on us completely, fortunately no-one was seriously hurt. I have a few cuts from mangled poles and some wonderful fibreglass splinters but all ok otherwise. So we ended up cramming myself, my friend and the kids into a tiny tent for the weekend (not very pleasant at all).
I have emailed the company with all the details and photos and am waiting to hear from them.
Just thought I would get your views.

If your a scout leader you'll know tents so i have no doubt you've drawn your own conclusions, i've had one from tentastic and i put it in the bin after it's first outing, Here is the latest word on Rage tents
Thanks for that, I hope their email response is worth waiting for!!!!
I am playing on the being a beaver leader (the little ones who are not allowed to go camping) who just helps out at camp. I have to say I am not impressed and regret selling the old tent even if it was too small for the family holiday.
I hope it gets sorted soon, got another camp planned let alone the family trip. Hey ho live and learn I suppose.

we bought our rage bergen 6 from tentastic in 2006 - fantastic service - great tent & would recommend them (& have done) to my best friends.
I had a fiat punto that had everything wrong with it under the sun - & I ended up spending nearly #2k on it in repairs in two years. my dad & friend had puntos - they both spent under #500.
Sometimes you just get a duff one - hopefully the company will sort you out!
good luck.
That what I am hoping, although I have to say it has really put me off the tent, I would be constantly bothered about the same happening especially with 3 young children in the tent.
I just hope they get it sorted soon as I had lots of camping trips planned.

Fingers crossed!!!
Well, what I would do in your case is start looking around for another, better tent, get on with your camping and if the worst comes to the worst and you don't get a refund then you'll not have lost holiday time over this.
There are some good bargains around still in discontinued tents from last year, from good manufacturers. What sort of tent do you think you'd like?

I have just had an email from Tentastic to appologise for the inconvenience. They are picking the tent up this week and issuing a refund. No mention of any compensation for all the trouble it caused but hey ho they are giving me a refund and that is all that matters.
I have started looking for another and I think I am leaning to the Outwell Vermont XL as the porch front looks good (any comments on this would be good) but you never know what I may find in the meantime!!!!!
Anyone know of any on display in Staffordshire? Think I should look before I buy this time.
hi we also purchased one of these tents from tentastic and went away last week for our second outing ever.We had a four hour thunder storm in kent on the first night which frightend the heck out of the kids but not one leak from the tent despite water on the top of the tent about a foot deep.Having no sleep that night we were looking forward to a good day but the wind starting picking up and the sides of the tent were flexing as i assumed they should.Just as we started to enjoy ourselfs a fairly strong gust of wind hit followed by an almighty bang and the whole tent collapsed apon us.We discoverd both main fiber glass poles shatterd and most of the metal poles bent. With the help of fellow campers we chucked everything in the car and came home.Despite all this we have the camping bug we went out and purchased a montana 6 with extension & carpet and can not wait to get back out there and complete unfinished business.

Fortunately our weather was not that bad so can't really put the damage down to that, all the other tents were fine and we only had a little bit of wind.
Fortunately, the courier has been today to collect the tent and return it to Tentastic who have said they will give me a full refund!!!!!!!!
Hi, We bought a Rage Narvic 500DLX from the same company last year; We didn't expect the same quality as the Vango or outwell as the cost was so low, but we hoped it would last a couple of seasons and help us decide whether camping was for us.
After erecting the tent we were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put up, and the room available, however, although we like ventilation we felt there was just too much mesh on the inner liner, it covered as much ad a third of the inner roof, and made the tent very draughty.
A few days later we noticed it had torn badly where the mesh was attached to the hooks holding it to the frame. I believe this is a major design fault. We wrote several times to the company but never recieved a reply.
We have written it off as a bad experience and are saving up to buy a Vango or Outwell. We will not be tempted to buy cheap again! As the saying goes you pay for what you get. Rage tents are cheap, but not always cheerful!!!
I am really sorry to hear that you did not get very good customer service. As I have said, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the tent but the company did arrange for it to be collected and they have said a cheque for a refund is in the post.
But you know the saying, once bitten, twice shy. I have spent hours researching a new tent and have opted for the outwell vermont xl, I managed to find somewhere that had got it erected so I could go and have a look first and have spoke to loads on the forum about them.
Like you say cheap is not always cheerful and I wont make that mistake again.
