We're looking at our 1st faimly tent(2 adults+2 young boys)

Tunnel tent seem to offer a good balance between space + ease of use

On my shortlist i have Khyam Ontario8/Outwell Nevada XL/Vango Albany800/Vango Yukon800/Vango Visat 800/Coleman Columbus 8

Anyone got any thoughts on any of these

They all seem to offer a similar package for a similar price so is there any significant differences/quality issues or is it just pick the one we like the look of

Much appreciated

Hi Sogden

Sorry can't offer advice on the tents you listed but just to throw a spanner in the works   have you had a look at the Wynnster Kestrel's? We have a K.A.S (Kestrel Appreciation Society!) on here where you will find some great photos and reviews plus Debbie has done a review on the tent review page about this tent. Great space, great price and easy to put up. We bought ours from outdoorkit on line where they offered great service and were very helpful.

Might be worth a look?

We have the Khyam Ontario 8 and love it. We're a family of 2 adults, 4 kids and a loopy dog and find the space works well for us.

Easy to pitch, good head height throughout, spacious bedroom pods, large living area and SIG.
Being a tunnel tent we have never had any problems fitting on to pitches either.

I think it all comes down to personal choice.
Khyam, Outwell, Coleman and Vango are all well respected makes so pick the one that suits your needs best.

Ideally find somewhere that has them erected so that you can have a good poke around - lay down in the bedroom pods and ask if you can put a table and chairs in to see how much space you'll have (our local camp shop was great about doing this when we bought ours)

We paid £189 for our tent and got the footprint groundsheet thrown in too. You can also buy the carpet and sun porch to really make it a home from home.

Hi Sogden

We have the Outwell Nevada L and although there is only two of us it is realy a family tent sleeping up to 6.

We used it for the first time last weekend for two nights and found it to be fantastic, also it only took 45 minutes to pitch, thats tent up bedding in, carpet laid, gear sorted and stove assembled, kettle on kick back and enjoy.

We purchased ours from Campingworld .co.uk in surrey fort £200.00

Good luck with your purchase and happy camping.

I have nevada xl and wynnster kestrel 6. Both in the review section.

Both would suit a family of your size.

the kestrel has a much bigger living area than the nevada.

You can move the front panel of the kestrel inside to frorm a canopy for shade from the sun, or to cook in the rain. Or you can take it off completely in really hot weather.

The  kestrel has a drop down groundsheet at the entrance, so no tripping over.

It doesn't have fly mesh on the doors.

1x 4 berth room with zipped divider, 1 x 2berth room, side by side

It was £150 at outdoorkit. Excellent service.

The nevada has full mesh screens on all the doors.

the groundsheet is fully sewn in.

1 x 4 berth room with a back entrance door. 1x 4 berth room with curtain divider, at opposite ends of the tent.

£229 with free carpet from winfields. Excellent service here too.

Both tents are easy to put up, stable in use and both very good quality.

The nevada might just have the edge in quality with the mesh doors.

the kestrel is more versatile , with larger living space and movable door, and a smaller footprint size , so easy to find a pitch to fit.
