Hi and welcome to the site - we got lots of good info and advice of the other people who post on this site as we too were complete camping novices - after lots of research and camp shop visits we are now the proud owners of a Gelert Horizon 8, which we camped in for the first time last week - happy to say it proved to be a great experience, tent easy to pitch and put away(ish - but sure we'll get better in time).  As our only experience is of this tent sorry can't do comparisons - but can assure you that our tent withstood a night of heavy rain and slight winds and didn't budge an inch.  We are a family of 5 and found that the Horizon 8 accommodates us comfortably and leaves one bedroom available for storage - all in all very very happy with our choice.  Think these are available for £185 or there is a 6 version for about £160.

Good luck x

That IS a bargain! We've got the Cadiz 5 and found it really easy to pitch and have had no problems with it at all.

Welcome BTW

Well done for buying the cadiz. We've had ours for three years and have used it about twice a year aswell as lent it out to friends for a couple of weeks.  Last week it withstood the most almighty gale and torrential rain, it rocked a bit and i really thought i was going to hear a pole snap, but no, it just took everything thrown at it.  Gelert is a good make from what i have read and i wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, if they did one with the same spec as the monty 6 i would get it straight away.

We're a family of four and the cadiz 5 isn't really big enough for us tbh, that said we've still had great use from it.  The bedroom is lovely and big and sleeps the four of us comfortably and has a bit of room to spare for clothes storage too. The front living area is pretty small and a lot of it taken up with the sloping roof but we've managed to get the picnic table in when it was raining (most of the time!).  Obviously there isn't a SIG in the living area which i would quite like, but again it wasn't too much of a problem as the storm flaps kept rain out and a few minutes with the fan heater kept us very warm indeed.

I love this tent, it's served us really well and even though we're buying a big beast we will still use this happily on weekenders until it fall apart

Where did you get your's was it ebay?

Happy Gelerting

Clare

Thanks for the inside info Marra, I'll give em a call to see if there's any left because that is a spectacular bargain. We bought ours from Halfords 2005 for £60-70!

Wow what a bargain. I'm going to be doing the same as mrs jubbly and contacting my local Halfords first thing in the morning. Your hubby, Marra should get some commission from Halfords. They will be wondering why they get all these calls tomorrow.

You should buy them all up  and sell them on ebay, make a big profit to pay for your bigger tent.  The cadiz 7 is about £99.

I bet my local store won't have any.

tut tut .

i put it up in the garden this weekend ,im so impresed ! it huge and for 2 people who never even put up a wendy house it was quite simple ,kids loved it ! .we ended up with 7 sleeping in it ,my hubbys sister and kids joined us .i put 2 double air beds side by side and a single at the bottom in the bedroom .and a double in the living area . it rained too , sis got a bit wet from condensation dripping from the roof .oh and hubby took our little girl the loo at 4am and got door zip stuck while they were outside ! lol

i was shocked by the size of it ! but really chuffed ,it took us an hour to set up (inc beds) but other than that im happy with our first time camping !!!
