Hi all,

We took the plunge and purchased a Vango Aspen 500 (the price swung it £187 from somerset camping and i'd highly recommend them, service ws great), pitched in the back garden yesterday and i have to say i was very very impressed!  Love it!!  Was tempted to sleep out in it.. 3 weeks until we are away and can't wait, any tips from other Vango Aspen users..

Thanks

Hi Mr Bear
we have the vango aspen 700 and we love ours too! only four of us in it but so much room. We tend to use the third bedroom as an en-suite and put the portaloo in there.

Hope you have many happy holidays in it!

we recently got the 700 and absolutely love it, if we could pitch it in our garden I wouldn't be able to resist sleeping out in it lol (never mind the kids).

don't know if you got the footprint groundsheet but would definitely recommend, besides keeping the sig clean it was more insulation - really noticed the difference with bare feet between living area and porch (where we kept all our shoes)

hope you have a lovely holiday

We have had the Vango Aspen 700DLX for 2 years now and having looked around at nearly all the tents on the market can confidently say you have made the right choice buying a Vango Aspen. We bought a piece of breathable ground sheet which we cut to the shape of the living area which feels so warm on the feet and protects the sown in groundsheet as well. As mentioned earlier it is worth buying a footprint groundsheet to keep your sown in groundsheet clean but make sure the edges dont protrude outside of your outer sheet or you will get water sitting between the footprint groundsheet and your sown in groundsheet which will create all sorts of problems with water penetrating the seams of your sown in groundsheet. People will try and rubbish this tent because it is inner pitch first which means your inner will get wet if pitching in the rain. Trust me it dries very quickly and the benefits of no condensation and getting the full height throughout your tent really is worth it. The Vango pitching DVD makes pitching easier than reading the instructions on the tent bag. Have a  fantastic holiday in your vango Aspen,

hi, we have the 700dlx also and like everyone else i honestly cant fault this tent, especially with 2 young kids the porch area is big enough for all the kitchen equipment plus the kids bikes, shoes, wet gear etc. keeping the living area totally clean, dry and clutter free. you really have made a good choice of tent can`t fault it.

p.s we also had ours from somerset camping and like you found them exceptional people to deal with.

Hi all

thanky ou all fro your comments, i'm really counting the days!

We did purchase the foot print with the tent, as thought it would be useful for keeping tent clean.

Do you cook inside your tents?  We intend to, with the sky lights.. looking at fridges too!

Thanks all

hi again, we do all our cooking in the porch area, fridge stays out there as well. don`t know if the porch is big enough on the 500 though. if you do cook inside be very careful with spillages you really don`t want to put a hole in the sig !!

Hi

We normally use frame tents and are looking for a tent for weekend use only, i like the look of the aspen 700 dlx for a family of five but my concerns are , does it take long to pitch and is it much less bulky than taking a frame tent.

tia

cheers

steve

hi, i don`t know a lot about frame tents but the 700dlx comes in 2 bags. which are pole bag approx 1 metre long and i guess about 35 kg. the tent bag is approx 30" long x 16" high x 18" wide and i guess about 17 kg. the weights are a true guess but i know it ways a total of 52kg and i think the pole bag is roughly twice the weight of the tent bag hence my guesstimate ! we normally pitch the tent in under 1 hour but we have only pitched it 3 times and we are getting quicker each time. sounds heavy and a long time to pitch i know but it truly is a little sacrifice for a magnificent tent. hope this helps, rich.

Sweenysteve, you asked if the 700dlx was less bulky than a frame tent,

(The 700dlx is a BIG frame tent)
