Hello there!

Recently purchased a second-hand Outwell Casagrande 'L' tent from Ebay and opened everything up today to make sure Ive got all the necessary bits and pieces. Still very much a camping novice, so struggling to make sense of the erection instructions on the bag.

Don't suppose anyone on here has one of these beauties or knows how the thing goes together?

I appear to have a loose ground sheet. Thought they were normally built-in on the Outwell tents, but never mind. The ground sheet seems fairly square, but two of the sides (opposite each other) have flaps. Not sure if these are supposed to face front and back or face into the bedroom pods.

Please help me !!! as it was my decision to buy this tent and my partner will kill me if we get all the way to a campsite and I have no idea of how this bloody thing goes up.

Hi

Its some time since the Casagrande was sold so ill do my best from memory.

Lay the flysheet out on the ground. Slip the poles (should be colour coded) through the pole sleaves until all of the hoops are made. Peg one end, making sure your doors are shut and pull up a bit like a pram lid and then peg the other end. Guy and peg the tent out. Then go inside and peg or clip the inner groundsheet in place and then hang the inner up. The groundsheet is just for the living area and if my memory is correct there is a little slit on two side which are for the centre peg on the inners to peg through and a small amount of this groundsheet sits under the front of each inner.

Regards

Gary

We own one of these tents and have found it to be an excellent purchase. We bought it new in '86 and are still using it. Ours was the last model to be made and has a "bathtub" groundsheet which means that the sides can be folded up to prevent rainwater coming in (although it only fits the area between the two bedrooms). We have found it pretty simple to put up and can't really add anything to the advice Gary has offered. Hope you enjoy using it.There is a picture of ours in our gallery.

Gary,

Following your mention of colour-coding, I have checked the poles and two appear slightly longer & have darker coloured end sections. Is this what you refer to and if so, where are these ones to be used? Didnt realise that the tent was such an old model.

Many thanks for the response and to Kev/Julie for the helpful photo

We have had one of these for a couple of years - just brought it back after a night of torrential rain, without any leakage problems. Our only complaint would be with the instructions. We have never been able to find any 'colour-coding' on the poles, or been able to find any difference in them. It has taken us many efforts of trial and error to find the way that seems to work for us. We undo the tensioning straps; put the poles through the tunnels, and flex enough to insert pins. We then do up all the straps, and peg and open as Gary describes. Still haven't worked out the groundsheet, or decided where the clips at the bottom edges of the inners should be attached, but will persevere! We seem to have the essential right
