Morning all!

In one of those rookie mistakes, we bought a rather too large tent which will be fab for week or longer breaks but is a bit of a pain to put up and down for a short weekend break - especially with a toddler trying to escape out of sight at every opportunity!

Whilst we are only at the comtemplating stage (well, I am..can't speak for H!) I'd really like some recommendations from seasoned campers as to which tents might suit our needs better.  I'm after a 5 or 6 person tent with standing room and a space to sit inside, preferably with 2 bedroom areas (any configuration!) for not too much money!  Oh, and most importantly one that's reasonably quick to put up and down.  We're currently averaging over an hour each way, which together with packing the rest of our things up is simply too long to expect an under 3 to wait for

So, what would you all suggest?  Many, many thanks in advance - will pop on and off to see suggestions and pick your brains a bit more!

Hi I have the same idea and will be buying one of these in a couple of weeks ready for our August trips...

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/tents/5023518601014 Vango Orchy 600

It's on offter too and it's the best price I've seen it and has good reviews on here. We are 2 adults and 2 children and I saw one of these erected at a camping place during the week , it looks great and comes in 3 colours  Great for when I need to get it erected myself when OH is arriving later. Apparently takes 20 mins to erect !

Hi Trixie75,

We have two tents for the same reason - our 6 berth is a bit too big for the shorter trips.

The tent we chose for our shorter trips is a Vango Yukon 400 (there's also a Yukon 600). It takes 15 mins to put up and take down - giving more time to relax with a beer.

I think that any of those tents that are similar in style to the Vango Orchy are great for this use - 3 or 4 poles to thread and the tent is up.  Have a look at the Gelert tents here and here, they have a selection in this style and are possibly a bit cheaper, but there is little or no compromise in quality.  We've used the old Gelert Cadiz 5 for weekenders and can't fault it (except maybe the lack of SIG in the living area); it is strong and resililent and very easy to put up and pack away again.  However, quite a few makes do this kind of style, just stick to the usual rules ie go with a reputable make.

Clare

We have Vango Orchy 600.. I can put it up in about 30 mins on my own... would be quicker with someone else to help (not OH though..!!)  Living area good size and all 4 of us could sit inside in chairs and with table up at side quite comfortably. Bedroom has two entrances and a central divider. It suits us for weekend trips and so far we have been pleased with it. Sarah x

Thank you everyone - sorry a bit late back to this, but the post was moved to here and I couldn't find it at first!

The Vango Orchy seems like a good idea for us, and if you can put it up by yourself even better.  Might be able to get away for a mid-week break with my sister and my LO if it's that easy.

Thanks again for your help - knew I could count on this website for help and advice
