We've got a 2008 Monty 6 (replacement for a leaking 2007 one). I was thinking of getting a kids room for our three young children (eldest is coming up to 7) but is it really worth it? I'm a bit worried about them escaping through the kids hole and not going to sleep because it's all a bit busy!

thats the beauty of the sewn in groundsheet. they cannot escape from the tent at all. maybe allow them to play in it from an early time that way they might get bored a bit sooner and be ready for bed on time. with my children (3, 8, 11) it doesnt matter what toys etc are in the tent once they have been out for the day running around etc they are usually ready for bed and asleep after a DVD

Well, I think they're a bit of a scam to be honest but if you've got the money I guess they look pretty.
But like you, the thought has crossed my mind that with that low level children's entrance/exit you could not adjust the zip on the door to high level to keep little ones in at night. Would there be anything in the main part of the tent you wouldn't want them to fiddle with? Can you adjust the zips on the outer doors of the tent so they couldn't get out altogether? We used to have a Monty 6 but I can't remember how all the door zips worked! MT

Outer door zips work top to bottom, but mesh ventilation doors inside can finish at the top, so the children can be kept in. We had the same problem with the 'low level window' zipped opening in the bedroom area - we spent 1.5 happy hours putting our daughter back in the sleeping area, which she then immediately escaped from again. The next day the sail mender tool on my swiss army knife and a small cable tie were used to good effect.....
