My tent is absolutely huge as well and I'm quite keen to find something a bit smaller and easier to pitch for short stays.  Haven't bought it (yet!) but we've had a look at the Sunncamp Ventura 4 at our local camping store.  Its lovely with 2 separate bedrooms each big enough for a double mattress, a sewn in ground sheet and plenty of room in the living area for a small table and chairs plus kitchen bits.

Hi Jill22

We've just bought a Vango Orchy 600 as our weekend tent (in Grape, couldn't resist the 'pink!')  We haven't used it as yet, but bought it from The FootWearWarehouse on Ebay for £115 +£9.50 p+p.  On paying by Paypal I was advised that it would appear on my account as AMG Group - Vango!?!  Excellent service-ordered it on Saturday afternoon, it arrived Tuesday.

Before buying the Orchy we had a Vango Idaho 600 which unfortunately on 1st use got blown in, ripped & broken poles last May bank holiday - not impressed, but we weren't the only ones so have put it down to experience & not the Vango brand.

BTW we have a Vango Diablo 600  for our main holidays which is Fab!  There's 3 of us (2 adults & a teenager) & we definitely wouldn't want to go any smaller than the Orchy even just for weekends!

Krakinka x

Hi there

I have to recommened the new Outwell Idaho L or XL, I have the L which is a 6 birth, it combinds strong steel poles and carbon fibre poles and with two people its easy to put up. I spent a lot of time choosing the right tent and this is the one. It has a unique design that puts the two bedrooms at each end of the tent, bedrooms with areas infront for dressing or storage and theres a privicy curtain to save blushes. This leaves a huge spacius social area, the whole area inside the tent is plenty big enough to standin evan the bedrooms. you can also buy extras such as footprints, porches and fitted carpets, it really is a great tent and well worth a look......

Hi,

We're also looking for a weekender family tent ... there's so much choice though. As our big tent is a big one, we're trying to find something at the other extreme that's just one sleeping pod with mini porch area for a portaloo. We've looked at Coleman trailblazer (4.6m x 2.5m, hgt 1.8 max, wgt 9kg) and Wynnster strike 4 (3.9m x 2.3m,hgt 1.3m, wgt 5.5kg). As OH is 6'7'', it's a bit tricky (for him that is, not for me and the kids!). We intend to take the overnighter with the big tent for long-haul trips, so it's got to be small enough to squease in the car boot, easy enough to pitch within 15mins but comfortable enough to sustain a last-minute weekend trip with 3 children AND portaloo (3x3 trips to the loos at night ...they never want to go at the same time ... portaloo is heaven and our best camping investment ever).

Would love to hear what other families use as an overnighter.

Hi,

We've just purchased a vango venture for a "weekend" tent. It was on offer at gooutdoors - reduced from £120 to £60. Used it a fortnight ago and it was good - easy to pitch and plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 small children.
