Hi All,

I've just bought a tents from Argos, it was half price (Cat No 340/9770). Having rushed home to practice putting it up, I just happened to read the instructions.

It said that the tent was shower proof and not water proof. It has a Hydrostatic Head value of 1200mm.

Is this adequate, or shoould I take it back and look for something with a higher HH rating?? If so what should I aim for??

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, I would recommend that you look for another tent with a Hydrostatic Head of 2000 - Minimum

Yes, take it back. It's not up to the basic UK recommended minimum of 1500HH and 2000/3000HH is what most good leisure tents have...if not higher.

Well thanks for the advice, I took the thing back today.

Thanks lindseyste for the lead on the Litchfield tent...they were out of stock, but I think I'm going to go for that one.

I've only just seen this thread, but I put the catalogue number in the search box at Argos.co.uk and this is what came up.

On there it gives a HH of 1200mm, so it has either been changed recently or the website and hard copy give different specs which isn't good.

Hello there

I made the same "mistake" at the beginning of the week (see my thread on 23.06.08).  All I can say is thank god for this forum board!  When I contacted Argos about the inaccurate HH figure I realised I was making the wrong decision in going for such a bargain.  The following day I took it back for a full refund.  I'm now the proud owner of a Lichfield Arapaho 6DLX.

Shame nothing can be done with Argos to stop this from happening to other people.
