I've just got some new, 3mm, guy (and some line loks) to replace a frayed guy rope on a Khyam XXL Rigidome.

The new guy is noticeably thinner than the old one, so I guess that it is 4mm, or possibly 5mm, diameter. The old guy looks like white nylon rope, the new one is polyester with 189kg breaking strain.

The question is is the new guy going to be strong enough?

Hi raveinighorde
189kg is a lot, I would have thought that the peg would go before the guy rope.

Do delta pegs fail?

After a storm on the Isle of Wight last year I've bought delta pegs for the main guys.

Hi Raveninghorde
Steel deltas were tested to 200kg in compacted ground, the nylon ones to 72Kg. Your guy's rated at 189Kg you say which I would have thought would be OK, the same weight as two big blokes hanging off each one.
I have deltas which I use when on an exposed site, they do what they say on the tin and don't move. I also like the way that they lie flush to the ground so I use them around the doors and high traffic areas, my kids are always barefoot on site.
