Just been looking around for a cheap tent and seen one in Argos, it's a Pro Action River 240 4 berth Dome tent reduced to £22.49.

Does anyone else own one, if so is it worth buying?

There have been some reports on here about pro action tents that are ok but quite a few that were not.

But if its got a decent HH then it could be worth a go.

I would do the hose thing on it in the garden and if it leaked would take it back to Argos and get a refund.

But I would also be sure to ask them if they would refund if it leaked.

Just had a quick look at it and the HH is 1200 which will probably mean that it is a fair weather tent really - probably wouldnt stand up to much wind a rain. It doesnt seem to have a review on here. It is cheap though so if you are willing to lose that amount of money then go for it - you may get a good one and good enough weather to have a cheap holiday

I would do as Angie suggests and try it out in the garden first as at least you will know if it leaks or not and it wouldnt ruin your holiday

Thanks all, the reason we are buying it is because my daughters school are doing a family camp out in a couple of weeks so I didn't want to spend too much on something that probaly won't be used that much.

I was a bit cheeky and asked if we could take our van but was told it was tents only.

As long as the weather stays dry we should hopefully be OK.

I bought one of these for garden camping as Richard thought that he need the tent that I already had (long story),   Well it has been up in my garden a few times without a problem, including one week when it started to rain and didn't stop for long enough to allow the tent to dry for over a week.    Heavy rain combined with winds and the tent stood up to it all.   My sleeping bags were inside and stayed dry.

It is a very basic tent - but if that is what you are after go ahead and try it.

That's good to know, so fingers crossed if we do get a downpour we should stay dry. I suppose if it got too bad we would just drive back home as it's only a 5 minute drive lol.

i have a simiar pro action tent to this it's an old 2002 3 man model but looks incredibly similar, think the HH on mine was higher but as i only bought it for a festival it was fit for the job. it's pitching is inner tent first so you have to make sure that the fysheet is tight and attached properly.  i had a bit of trouble the first time as i was pitching in wind and rain at donnington and it leaked a little as the flysheet was touching the inner.  i sorted it and it kept raining and it was fine. have used it since with no probs.

i think the small pro action "festival" tents seem to be fine from what i've heard/experienced.  but as you can see from my "outfit" the larger ones are useless.

good luck and i hope the weather stays good for you!
