Went camping for first time in our Nevada L, has anyone else had any problems with the rain safe door? When we put the pole in, the tension on that area of the tent was so great that we couldn't zip up the door. We ended up leaving the pole out and having to duck down to enter and exit the tent by that door. We understand that for the design to work there has to be some tension but it seems that the pole is slightly too long. Any ideas? And yes i will be writing to outwell about the slight design fault but other than this, the tent along with the side extension is perfect for our family of 4.

Yes, my sister had exactly this problem on her nevada xl. I have the same tent but mine is fine. She has used the tent twice, 1st time the tension was pulling the zip aart, she couldn't close the door, and had to take the pole out. this weekend, the pole snapped. It split down the length, and about one inch snapped off the end of one section. I didn't use my nevada this weekend, so couldn't compare the length of the poles to see if hers was too long.
There was a post a while back covering the same fault on the montana and minnesota door pole too.

Some, including myself, have had a similar problem with the Minnesota, which has a similar door/canopy. (See my gallery.) One solution (though we should not have to be in the position of solving it) is to use cable ties to fasten the black brackets nearer to the steel poles so that they take the strain, not the fabric of the tent.

Further to my posts, we didn't bother using this door the last time we went we used the opposite one as we are still waiting for a reply from Outwell, 6 weeks down the line (don't hold your breath). We have the side extension to the tent which we realised can go over either door so we just swap the tent around.
