Hi I put a post on here about a week ago just thought I would get you up to date as we are nearly there!

We went to a display today and after looking at loads of tents (had a great time) I think we have more or less decided on the Outwell Nevada.  I have a question though - I don't know if the one we looked at was 2007 or 2008 model and my hubby is wanting to know what the difference is i.e. if there have been any upgrades etc etc (sorry don't know much about tents) because I have noticed that a few online shops are selling off the 2007 model.  If anyone knows the difference please can you tell me.

Also I would really appreciate any Outwell Nevada owners to let me know their feelings on this tent-either the large or extra large (I want the XL and hubby wants the L, I say the bigger the better lol!)

Please please help

hi shell , I have the 07 model from winfields, cost  £229 with free carpet. The carpet is a great addition, I wouln't be wthout one again.

I have left a review in tent reviews at top of the page.

I asked  if anyone knew what differences there were in the 07 and 08 models before I bought mine earlier this year,  and nobody seemed to know. A camping shop owner said that the 2 tents would have to be side by side to pick any differences out, they are miniscule.

Its really quick and easy to pitch, half an hour all pegged out.  and is very good in high winds. It even survived the bank holiday gales unscathed, with deltas on the gulyines, while our other tent was flattened and had several broken poles.

as for the size, all depends how many its for really. and if you want a spare room to use as storage area for clothes and to keep the loo in, like we do.

Hi Debbie

I hadn't realised but when I put my first post on thats the one you recommended isn't it, my hubby really likes it but keeps going on about its too big for us cos it will be for 2 adults and one 13 year old and sometimes just the two of us but I personally would like a tent that is more than big enough for us if we can afford it and also if there is no problems of it going on one pitch like you say then even better!

I shouldn't bother about it been a 2007 model then eh although not sure if hubby will ignore it.

I went on that website but not sure if the carpet is still free cos its still advertising it on the home page but when you click on it and it goes to the tent it suggests the carpet but has the price on it and no mention of it free, can you remember if it was  like that when you bought it or not?

Have you ever bought from them before i.e. if there are any problems what is their customer service like etc

Sorry for all the questions Debbie but you seem to know what you're talking about so I'm picking your brains if its ok lol

No problem ask away, and i'll do my best to answer, but i'm going away tomorrow lunchtime until Friday.

Yes, when I bought mine the free carpet was on the homepage but doesn't show up on the order form. i rang them to check and they said it gets included automatically. It did.

my sister then ordered hers a week or two later, hers had the carpet too. delivery was about 2-3 days I think.

The canopy pole snapped on my sisters last weekend , she emailed them and they sent her a replacement free of charge 2 days later. so good customer service.

A couple of others here have bought the tent and carpet since too, no problems.

2007 or not, you'll still have your full guaruntee, same as if it was a 2008, if thats whats worrying your hubby. I couldn't find any differences on the specs for the 2 models.

this offer is actually cheaper than some of the nevada M or L sizes, for just the tent.

also this tent is so straightforward to erect, it won't take any longer than the smaller sizes .

I like my tents to be big, sometimes its just me and my 9 year old son in ours, although my daughter and her 2 kids do come with us at times.

When its just the 2 of us we sleep in the bigger bedroom, and have the loo and clothes in one of the smaller ones.

I thought that if it was very wet , we could take out the big bedroom and have the cooker that end near the back door if neccesary . I don't usually cook inside the tent, I prefer to use a utilty tent for safety when the grandchildren come with us.

We've recently purchased an "L" as a replacement for our Monty 6 as we wanted something lighter, easier and quicker to erect and which we hope will be more often used for weekend breaks as well as longer holidays. We were VERY tempted with the "XL" because it's great vlaue and is cheaper than the "L", especially if you can get the free carpet from Winfields (or others?).

However we eventually opted for the "L" because (like yourselves) we're also a couple with a 13 year old, and decided this was plenty big enough for the three of us, and would also be OK for just the two us as you can take the smaller bedroom out and use the additional door that is located here.  Also, if I'm right(?), the living space is exactly the same in both tents, but you will obviously get more storage space if you use the extra area provide by the second larger bedroom with the "XL".  We therefore also got the side canopy to give the "L" a bit more of a feel for extra space.

The other thing that concerned us was the "XL" is a big tent! and and we think we would have had trouble pitching this on a couple of sites we stayed at in France last year.

Please don't take this reply as any critism of the "XL" as I'm sure this is a GREAT tent and is certainly VERY good value at the moment, but it's simply an explanation of why we've gone for the "L", as I think it suits our particular requirements.  I certainly don't want to offend any "XL" owners!!

Hi Debbie

Thanks for the reply, thats great at least I know now that hopefully I will get the carpet free providing they still have stock left and also that they are a good site.  I read another review that the canopy pole had snapped on theirs as well, unlucky or maybe a design fault?

Thanks Patrick17 I know where you're coming from and can see what you and hubby are saying, if I order the L  it will please him better but I sooo want the XL one, especially at that price cos I think the L one at the moment is dearer and doesn't include carpet, oh god what a dilema! Hubby got to the stage now where he said I have ground him down and doesn't want to hear about it ooppsss!

The canopy pole seemed a bit tight fit on my sisters the first time she used it, whereas mine was fine. Some owners of the other outwell tents with the same canopy pole have had the same trouble. I think maybe some of the wrong size are getting in by mistake perhaps.

Why do men have to be so logical?   no offence patrick, only joking.

Of course what they're saying is right, you don't NEED the extra space,

but hey, a free carpet included in a bigger tent for less cash.

my hubby just switches off when I start talking about buying tents, I showed him a few and in the end he said they all looked the same.

So I  just bought it and showed him afterwards.

Did the same with the next 2 as well.

I know what you mean about them being logical Debbie lol

Anyway off to bed in a bit as he said he isn't ordering anything now so will sleep on it, have a good time on your travels and take care, speak soon - hopefully will have ordered one soon and then it will be all the decisions of airbeds or sleeping mats etc cos we need new ones!
